So in theory wouldn't an X2 sink to the bottom of the sea/lake/river? I would like to remove the foam from my ski but I don't want to lose it to the bottom. . . I wonder if you cut the seat up a bit and removed the under seat storage, reinforced around it and then foamed that and glassed over the top if that would add enough buoyancy?

I am in favor of any foam I can strap to my ski. I went back to the old school handlebar pad partly for that reason. The other is I smash my face off the bars a lot trying new tricks. I have the scars to prove it:banghead: . I do run as much foam as I can in the hood though, it is trimmed a bunch to clear stuff but there is some there.

I was working on my own hood molds a while ago but had to put it on the back burner for a while but did realize I needed some kind of hood stops Dave was talking about of the hood would just split if it landed inverted hard. The stops grab the hood and keep it from blowing out each way.

I tried to find a pic of my old 650 SX hood. The X2 only has those 4 little stops. Looks like you cut one off to remove that drain tube. Those suckers are epoxied in there good! But the X2 does have the hinge which helps for support a good bit and it rests on the top of the hull by the steering. Still kind of shocks me that they don't had the full length hood stops like the stand ups do.

Pete, I tried 55-3317 bracket, look at the way my carbs mount (pump out) it wont work. If I was running 44's it wouldnt be a problem. I will try and get the foam, thanks for the idea.

Brent, why wouldn't this bracket work? I just bought on and a UMI wheel. Between those two I could have bought TWO throttle cables. Man that sucks...

STS throttle cable. I wish I would have went back and read this thread. I knew you used a differentcable. But when I was doing my Hot Products order I was like "look there, that bracket looks like it will work just fine. Besides they are both Mikuni carbs..." I guess I was WRONG! You said so in this thread :( long before I ever even got my engine a year ago... Darn throttle drum is like 36 bucks and that bracket is 22! Looks like another jet ski part for the shelf...

Ebay Dave, lol I used to go on Bar Crawls back in college where you paid like $10 bucks and got into a different bar every half hour for free and got great drink specials. Well I met these two girls doing a crawl and from then on my name in their cell phones was "Bar Crawl Dave". Kind of funny.
