heres a quick pic of the firewall pretty much done and now doing the rear exhaust.. i also reinforced with a piece of biax and chop around my latch area

i tried do the rear exhaust without cutting and returfing but i had to cut into the foothold to get the angle to get over the batt box thats in the bulkhead... would have like to get lower and not turf but at this point oh well... i might even give it a paint job since ive gone this far..

alright.. so mostly finished up on the inside and ran one more strip along the bulkhead and finished up the firewall and exhaust...

also finished the exhaust at the back and tried something a little different. i wasnt sure of cutting it flush really bc it wouldnt have much to bite to and i couldnt get it from the backside so i let it extend a little and blended it with some epoxy and finished sanding it and got it roughed in..

started workin on the motor last week to and got the cases epoxied up and the sleeves out today
should have some motor pics up soon

Looks great! nice job. Did removing that bedplate reduce the weight?

thanks guys

so i actually got some weight the other night b4 putting some paint on it and i if everything is right i only gained 3# which i am very happy with:naughty:

b4 the ski was 97# with the old bedplate and wet foam and mounts. now with all reinforcement done (almost 2 gal of west systems), alum exhaust (foamed and epoxied in) and pretty much sitting bare im weighing in at 100# even!! keep in mind the 2 gal of resin was a lot of glassing grinding and repairing

here are a few pics from last week i got the bottom sanded and epoxy primed and have it flipped this week fitting the new hood and repairing the FH, crack by the corner, and making some minor adjustments

i figured since im going to keep this a while ill also do some thing to the hood that i think should be done...

i got a replacement hood from WDK last year b.c of some liner issues i had not sealing and i ran out of room to file down bc the hood was already sitting to low and by the time i got it flush and to seal properly it looked like crap. so i woll be modding the new hood

#1 the liner was always a bit big and was a PITA to fit. you had to have the hood hooks forward to make the back fit but then it made it so it was hard to lift up... so i ended up grinding the inside of the liner to so i could add some strips and the grind the opposite side down therefore "shortening" the liner.. the sides were fine but it just needed a tad trimming in the corners and about a 1/4" inward in the back.

#2 where hood catch bolted to the hood the liner and the hood werent flush against each other so when you tightened the catch down on my old hood it just crushed the fiberglass.. so i ground out a hole and am going to glass up a pocket to where the catch mounts so it is solid and where they both come together it will be one piece.
i think this will also help with the liner breaking loose bc i have heard/seen WDK liners come apart. i think i willl also reinforce the liner and hood together a little better bc he just puts one thin layer of glass down the side and a little glue in the back

Man, you are getting a lot done! It looks good...

I guess this thread is proof of why someone should not buy a WDK hull? :laugh2:

Yours is looking really good with the mods you've done.

i guess you could say that:biggthumpup:

you dont understand how happy im going to be when this is done.. i wont have any doubts in this thing whatsoever and it will be built my way

its always best to do it yourself if you can. I never liked the inner layer other than it looks nice. There's just to many variable that can cause problems (thickness of glue, fiberglass variances, water getting in between, excess flex from gaps, and so on.

When i built my octane thats how i did it, It will also be easier to repair if something happens now. Nice work

here are a few pics from last week i got the bottom sanded and epoxy primed and have it flipped this week fitting the new hood and repairing the FH, crack by the corner, and making some minor adjustments

well... sorry for the no update lately but it has been a couple weeks of very tedious BS work that wasnt much for taking pictures of.. not minor adjustments as planned lol

the first couple pics was finishing up that pocket for the hood latch where i was making the liner and hood solid...

the second one i am changing the front seal towards the back about a 1/4 inch so i could move the hood back so i could have enough room to lift it up and out..

the last few i am adding a little more thickness and moving the one side of the liner seal inward a little so it will be centered on the seal.. i also had to move the front of the liner seal forward a bit so it would seat properly allowing me to have the hood where it needs to be..

at this point i had lined up and the liner was almost centered except the side i didnt touch.. so i figured while im here i might as well grind, add, and center that side as well... while do this i was also working on the depth making sure it was going to seal like it should...

like i said this has been a lot of tedious BS work in it self so i didnt take too many pictures.. i was just trying to get it done..

this part set me WAY behind schedule.. i really didnt ever imagine having to do this much work to a new hood but if i already went this far inside and am going to do something crazy with the paint i might as well make it fit right...

the hood seal was also a huge issue on the other hood i just never wanted to address it fearing i would have had to so what i just did

this hood needed its own build thread :djsmilie:

few more...
i layed some carbon kevlar on the inside of the hood to spice it up a little

i also went ahead and made the area between the hood and the liner on the side and back solid with some 6 oz for the shape 10oz for stregnth and tearing and the rest filled with hi density microfibers so that b!tch isnt going anywhere

heres some pics of the exhaust done as well in the back
