So I picked up a rn for cheap, well free actually. It has a f'ed up nose on her:dead1:, but nothing that cant be fixed up .

Planning on doing a 3'' cut back, defoam, one way valve, front exhaust, lowered hood/nose piece, foot holds, paint, new turf, and of course fix its nose up.

heres some pictures of what it first looked like when I picked it up.

the nose is all fixed up now, just needs a bit more sanding. the bottom deck is still kinda nasty.. another layer of glass should clean it up.

Im still pretty skeptical about the front exhaust. my buddies ski has it, dont really like it... I want to be able to do better tail stand though. i heard the air from the exhaust causes cavitation... whatcha think

ive never had issues doing tail stands and never ran a front exhaust

for sure you could do one for longer but who wants to do a 10 min tail stand?

There is no doubt that the front exhaust helps you in a tail stand, but who really does tail stands that much now days? Other than that and to make a bunch of noise, they are a pain.

I hated my front exhaust, in fact have it blocked off now, and will be repairing the front hole soon to put destroyer tubbies on it.

Do without it and put the $$$ towards a worthwhile mod...

thanks for the input guys.. im still up in the air about it. how could I fit my rear exhaust back on if I'm cutting the hull back? since its an angled cut, the existing exhaust tube wouldn't be at the same angle. is it possible to vent the exhaust out the pump area? ..

Don't put it in the pump area. i guess it causes BAD Cavitation.

You can call x-metal and get a side/rear exhaust tube... Best mod I did on my SN, you don' get the cavitation of a rear exhaust...

I wish I had done it to my RN...

I have front exhasut on my square, with stock waterbox. The noise isnt to bad. But it does get a little smokey. I cut the back of my rn at a angle and put the exhaust outlet on the side in the back of ski. Check out my build thread. i used the outlit from a xmetal front exhaust. Nice glass work on the nose.
