Other Your Garage Setup

OK, I just bought a house. Im moving soon, but the garage is empty so I want to set it up while its easy. Its pretty much for skis only. What would you do given the oppurtunity to set it up from scratch? Pics are welcome.

Build some different levels (like Kramer wanted to do to his apt in Seinfeld) so you can get more stuff in the garage; hmmm well maybe not that extreme, you could build a loft for extra storage or put up shelves and a work bench at the least.

I have my ski motors sitting on a table next to my bed. I wake up every morning to the smell of grease.

Haha not married. But whenever my girlfriend comes over I hear, "yup there's the smell of grease" then that's the end of it haha.

Lots of lighting. Cant have too many flourescent lights in a work garage.

Wire in the stereo system.......Don't do a TV or you will just be sitting in your garage not getting anything done.....not bad if you're married I guess.

The bottom edge of my work bench has a strip of electrical outlets......like one every 1.5ft. It's really nice not needing extension cords.

You are in Vegas so you won't need the furnace........lucky bum

I have water in my garage, but I wouldn't mind a small sink.

I have my air compressor tucked in a corner and have lines run throughout my garage for easy hookup.

Definitely going to do the compressor. I actually have a hose spool thingy that I'll be mounting up. Forgot about the stereo, good one. I dont need a furnace but it gets pretty hot in the summer, I might have to do a swamp cooler. Good idea withthe sink too, I'll have to look into that.

If the joists are stout enough... an electric, or chain hoist. For when you're alone pulling a motor. A harbor freight cheapie would do.

LOL! You could do that with a rubber mallet, will work as a tool when returfing as well.

Build a closet in the corner for the air compressor and insulate the walls around it so you don't have to hear it run when you are cycling the compressor a bunch.

Run air lines to all the work benches. Hanging air hose, hanging extension cords, hanging drop lights all on retractable reels. Makes for a neater workspace and easy cleanup of cords. Plenty of bright lighting. A slop sink is nice if you can swing it. Im not a big tv guy so tv is a waste for me.

I had an electric chain hoist hanging from a steel I beam in my fathers garage with an electric winch. It was so nice for pulling motors out of skis. Now I moved out and am back to doing it the hard way again.

Heat/AC if required. It's nice to work in a climate controlled shop.

^ how do you decide what to ride? I'd never have more than two jet skis for myself, I'd feel bad not riding one of them lol (unless one was a sit down and the other was a stand up, or some other combination of two dissimilar power toys)
