Also my donor ski was a vxr which is pretty close to square nose parts. The other boat was a wr3 which shares very little. In my opinion the vxr is the best boat building hull. It has short drive shaft and mid shaft compared to most couches. A square nose would make a good build too.

You definitely don't want to be at that boat ramp. You need to go to Montgomery marina its just past the race site, it costs $5 but is on private property and monitored, so it's much safer.

I would stay away from the splines you don't want them getting messed up. A little scratch or two on the shaft is just cosmetic though.

For the coupler on the mid shaft I have an old drive shaft cut short and ground flat spots to put in the vice and to hold the drive shaft i have an old mid shaft with flat spots.
