I've got a used westcoast 650 head in great shape I'd sell if you want to do something as far as bumping the compression. I would have to check dome sizes for you. I have two sets of domes. One I know is pump gas, what I ran, and the other I'm not sure. I recently built a 701 for sn so I don't...
I am right there with you. Something just doesn't seem right, but I don't know what or really where to look. I know it's not engine alignment. Mine wasn't aligned very well when I checked it but after aligning it without the couplers and putting everything back together the vibration is still...
A couple weeks ago I spent some time and pulled everything back apart and checked the engine alignment. It wasn't great. I moved a shim or two around and everything was better. Bolted it all back up and STILL have my vibration. Re-aligning the engine might have made a slight difference, but...
Thanks for the comparison Mouth. I guess I can feel good about the $100-$125 I spent on my sizzler 5 years ago...
Still working on getting my 61x/61x setup all dialed in too. I just haven't had much time to spend on the water.
Sounds like my spring is a little stiff!!
I will give a 65 gr spring a try and see what kind of difference I notice...
The 65gr spring is what I ran in my 650 with the same 2.0n/s but with a smaller main jet. I had started with a stiffer spring, but the 65gr ended up a lot better.
Mouth,
Did you ever put a pop off gauge on your carb to see what the actual pop off is?
I can't remember what a 2.0 n/s and 95gr spring is supposed to be by the mikuni book but I think 28psi, but mine checked with a gauge is 30psi. I think I remember that coffman recommeded a 20lb pop off for...
I've got 140-120 jets with a 2.0 n/s and pop off at 30lbs. I am definitely not "tuned" in though. Gorilla you ran quite a bit lower pop off than I have right now. I'll have to do some playing sometime this week. Thanks for the info.
I ran it like that for a couple season's with my 650 and didn't have any problems. I recently built a 61x 701 setup that I am running it on and it seems to be fine. I'm no expert though.
When I first bought the pipe I remember calling coffman's and getting the installation instructions faxed to...
I have the coffman's pipe with just two fittings on the headpipe, but I had run my line from the engine head to the back of the head pipe and then the front fitting on the headpipe to the stinger w/ pisser. I wonder if is matters, or if I should switch the lines on the headpipe like mentioned...
I guess the cool thing is that my folks live right on the water at the lake I live at. It's at a canyon, my wife and I are on top of the canyon, and my parents on the water in the bottom. They are about a whole minute away. It's a cool little lake, www.buffalospringslake.net. I just need to...
Mouth, I think it was one of your old posts where I came up with those spec's. I think I ordered the 140 jet by mistake, but it's what I had so I thought I would give it a shot.
How much difference does porting usually make on tunning? Would I most likely need to step up the jet a size or...
Ok I have done a bunch of searching but would still like some opinions from those more experienced in tunning than myself.
Here's my setup....
61X/61X std bore
stock reeds
Single 44 carb OP Vortex FA
Home port job using sport port new FS templates
Coffman's Sizzler pipe
Weastcoast...
I have also had a few questions about cooling line routing running this pipe and a head with two fittings. But my sizzler pipe only has two fittings on the head pipe? I have seen a few pics of others on here like yours that have three fittings on the headpipe. What's up with my pipe? I guess...
I'll have my buddy check it with a good gauge after I break it in a little and see what we come up with. I bet it is more than my gauge is reading.
Also, I did port those cylinders. So that may lower it a little if the motor you had it on didn't have a port job?
