"I would rather spend $1000-1500 on a shorter, wider freeride hull that holds all my RN stuff, has similar durability to the RN hull"
Yeah I would think that's a much better market.
But if you are into making a really cool boat:
I'd say start with a FS-1 type design (short, wide, and...
Cabo won't have surfing right where you get off the boat either. I like Cerritos about 45 minutes northwest of Cabo San Lucas, other surf spots are closer to San Jose del Cabo.

There's lot's of free instruction...
I know a lot of you guys know pismo better than me, but the last time I was there I cruised the entire length of the beach checking out the riding areas. It seemed wherever there was a hill behind the beach there was a good break. Of course there were lot's of surfers at most of the breaks...
I've seen that ski (salida) on craigslist for a long time. Firm at $3200? keep dreaming. He probably wants top dollar or else he'll just keep it. Wait, more will pop up. There was a number of fully built up RNs last season on NorCal craigslist for around $3K...
I got a 02 almost stock, very clean for $2K. $3k often buys you a ski pretty much dialed in, i.e. some of most of the following prop, intake grate, bars, bilge, pipe.
Offer $2500, go up to $2700, or wait unless there are no skis in your area.
Everything on them is sun faded, decayed, rusty, and dirty. Almost worthless. Guy should've jumped at $200, especialy in the off season.
"It ran last summer" means nothing. I bought two waverunner IIIs with a trailer for $800, then sold the one that wasn't running (electrical problem) for...
ebay
Sometimes people get in bidding wars and things sell for more than they are worth. Sometimes on no reserve auctions you can get great deals, especialy this time of year.
ride with my sit down buddies for a few miles at a time - sxr slightly better
also to jump waves and do a few subs - sj better
Try both, But for $3000 you'll probably find better deals on SJs.
I had Kawasakis back in the day too. I made the mistake of buying kawasaki again when I got back into it, then I rode a superjet. Immediately sold the kawis and bought Superjet. If you are into jumping and tricks it's the way to go. Plus they are more reliable.
Rather than a motorized cart, how about a motorized cart puller. Many beach carts have a hitch mount. Keep the electrical parts out of the water and you wouldn't have to waterproof them. Also one truck could pull multiple skis/carts.
I just looked ut up, they already make them. Not beach ready...
I mainly drove trucks for years. A few years ago I switched to something fun to drive as my primary ride. It's so much better. I save about $1200 a year in gas alone. I can haul ass, whip down twisty roads, pull my skis on the beach, etc. I have an old Ford truck in the backyard if I even...
You can put a lot of time and money into a 550 or 750 and then it may be almost as good as a stock superjet.
You can get a good condition SN650 for $1000. I'd rather have a reliable, good condition superjet with a 650, and maybe some handling mods, than a fast, unreliable, crappy handling...
