The fx1 top part is different then a rn. The rn top section is 2"s longer

I just got a 650 x2 and it has these ART pistons in it, I have never seen a piston with grooves all the way down it. Anyone ever seen this before? What are the benefits?

I also have a good bottom end and a good cyl and head but will need new pistons
