That's not bad at all. Easy fix. Use the right materials and you'll have no trouble out of that. Does it extend past the bulkhead rearward? If not, then it's cake.
You can do all that stuff, but I see that as more of a bonus than mandatory. I loved the buildoff and what it brought. It was fun seeing new things and then trying it out myself. All that stuff is cool and entertaining IF someone is willing to do the work to put it together.

I think the only component that is not covered by aftermarket at a somewhat affordable rate is the cases and if demand were there, someone could easily start producing cast cases. The yamaha 2 stroke can stick around for a long, long time.
I actually found a 12mm open end wrench from a really really cheap tool set that I think I got as a crappy Christmas gift from someone years ago and it fit with no grinding......It lives in my ski tool kit now.
