My first AM build. Rickter XFR - Full Carbon

Thanks bud. Yea I thought about installing those but for me my main concern is the reserve buoyancy the tray provides, I would be afraid that those could let water in if I ever sink my ski. I do end up riding solo more than i probably should so i want as large of a safety margin as possible with...

My first AM build. Rickter XFR - Full Carbon

Very true!! These things definitely take some serious beatings, and stuff is going to flex & move around, potentially creating leaks. There isn't much getting around that, especially when your dealing with lightweight hulls that are as thin as possible and I get that comes with the territory. On...

My first AM build. Rickter XFR - Full Carbon

Yea actually. I ended up drilling 2 small holes in the back of the ski and I got over a gallon of water out, which is just ridiculous for a brand new 10k hull.. lol I Then I rigged up a quick pressure tester and pressurized the tray with about 10-15 psi of air. I found several leaks with the...

My first AM build. Rickter XFR - Full Carbon

Thanks bro! If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. One big thing I will recomend is to seal up all the hull penetrations (coolant, exhaust, trim) from both sides.

Piston Failure. Need help identifying cause.

Would that still hold true if I had been running race fuel?

Piston Failure. Need help identifying cause.

I'm not entirely sure what geometric compression ratio is, I haven't heard that term before. I may have Riding Style: Mostly freeride and boat chasing but the goal is to do more flatwater. I don't believe it could have ingested any significant amount of water since I built it. I will have to...

Piston Failure. Need help identifying cause.

That was my leading hypothesis as well. So if my squish was too tight could that have potentially caused the detonation? I was right around 0.038" for squish.

I will post more pics and details tomorrow also.

Piston Failure. Need help identifying cause.

With no more than 10 hours on the rebuilt top end of my ported 718, I guess the pistons decided they had had enough... lol I was out riding, after bumping up the pilot jets, not doing anything crazy and the motor started to stumble and then died entirely. Thankfully, a wakeboarding boat came by...

My first AM build. Rickter XFR - Full Carbon

Yea I sealed up all the coolant, trim and steering tubes from both sides really well. As for the exhaust and scupper tubes I touched up a few spots that looked a little light on sealant but I didn't go crazy on those. On the XFR the exhaust tube is super low on the bulkhead so I couldn't really...

My first AM build. Rickter XFR - Full Carbon

So much for Rickter making sure they actually sealed up the tray... I went to change out my rideplate and I noticed water kept dripping out of 2 of the threaded inserts, what you see in the picture is only about 10 min worth of dripping. I left it overnight and that cup was full this morning...

    Carb Synchronization problem

If I had a rack I would have definitely caught the misalignment sooner as I don't think I would have been able to get the carbs on the studs, because the adapter plates were too far off. I think if I had one of the aftermarket carb couplers that might have also helped. None the less, I was able...

    Carb Synchronization problem

It was the mounting plates that bolt to the bottom of the carbs that was causing the issue. There is enough slop in the bolt holes shown below that when all bolted up it was causing the butterfly shafts not to align perfectly between the two carbs. Some minor adjustments to the position of those...

You can kind of see it here.

    Carb Synchronization problem

I think that one came out better. I thought the same thing about the throttle shaft at first but, they go through the middle and can only go one way. It looks like the issue was that the shafts of the two carbs weren't aligning when everything was bolted down.

Something deffinatelt happened to the quality of the pic when I uploaded it. Maybe because it rotated it. Idk. Try this one.
