Actually, the first step should be to have a decent grounding system for your incoming panel(S). National Electrical Code requires a certain length grounding rod. However, that does not ground to well in gravelly soil or the sand here in FL. After a lightening strike wiped out some of my lights...

Note to op: look closely at the 2 o rings inside near the end of the midshaft. You'll note that they are worn flat. Water was able to enter the inside of the midshaft then carrying with it those elusive, tiny "grease worms" that ate all the grease- causing that wear. Anytime I remove my engine...

It's called a hin number (hull id #), small plate riveted to right rear (rub rail ) of ski. The last two digits indicate the model year. A 1992 hin would end in 92

No, it does not make a difference. Those wires carry alternating current.

Be advised: the stator has 3 coils: a lightening coil (charges battery, never fails), a charge coil (charges the capacitors in the cdi) and a (smaller) pulser coil which let's the cdi know when to fire. Charge coils have been failing when hot, for me and others for four decades.

To stop that porpoising, have at least one foot- or if you are "full bodied"- both feet all the way forward in the tray! Also lean forward, yes over the chin pad, until you are on plane.

You might suspect the stator or cdi, the carbs are not that temperature sensitive.

Be advised: limit posted in that chart means clearance should not exceed 0.024"! In fluid dynamics, zero clearance would be ideal. However, out of roundness of impeller housing, imp. possibly being a few thousands oor , vibration of vanes whipping around, will certainly dictate about 0.010"...
