I had the same debate when I was building my ski. Dollar for dollar the 46's are very hard to beat. I personally think the extra thousand plus dollars would be better spent else where then putting big money carbs on a "small" SS motor. I have not ridden an 865 with FS's, but I cannot imagine...
Yup, you rode my bro's x2 at daytona '07 or something like that. I'm driving down to Florida Weds, but my chances of making the ride this weekend are pretty low. Looking like I have to work all day Saturday. But if I do make it I will look you up.
I have used a cheesy raft like this to tow a loaded beer cooler to the island behind my house....about a 1.5-2mile round trip. I used a 10' tow rope, went real slow and it worked fine. I have also towed a cooler that I strapped down to a SUP board the same way...lol...
Nick posted this in the Facebook group back in March:
"FYI - www.daytonafreeride.com website will no longer be used for the freeride. I am disseminating all info from this group from now on."
Clliffnotes version: The freeride is always MLK day weekend in Jan, Thurs-Sunday (Jan15-18 in 2015)...
Around here CG are never the problem. They have bigger fish to fry. The state marine police are the ones to watch out for. But as everyone else said, tread lightly. Quiet skis, no more then a few skis, ride far away from ppl, and you'll prob be ok.
Luckily for us PWC are considered a boat, and the term "boat" casts a VERY wide definition. Legally you can attach a trolling motor to the nose of your empty hull, and thats enough to be considered a homemade boat that must be registered in NJ...lol
Not sure the rules in TX. But if it needs to get inspected, make a binder of pictures of the build photos, buckets of resin, molds ect. I am sure Tony would send you some pics for this. If you need police inspection, most of the time they are just doing it to make sure its not a stolen ski...
Hull companies cannot throw a USCG registered HIN tag on unless they are delivering a full assembled boat. Most AM hulls come with serial numbers. My rickter has one. These are just made up numbers that the company uses to identify an individual hull for warranty or serice purposes. Most...
Going to be in Daytona Aug 7-16. Will be trying to make Coquina freeride, but otherwise will be riding at the zone everyday. If anyone wants to ride, let me know I'll be there.
Its homemade. Just make a serial number up. Take a sharpie marker and write it on the firewall...lol. You homemade the 'boat', you can assign it a serial number.
NJ info:
The key to dealing with government agencies is to give them only the details absoluely required by law, and use the correct (ie. their) terminology. You are following the law by doing this, so let the law work for you!!
You have the state police inspection report filled out. That is...
Yes the hood hooks come factory installed from RRP. What prongs do you have on the hood? I have the cold fusion prongs on my hood and together with the RRP hooks... they fit PERFECT. I would try them before messing with the hulls hook hooks, should be no need. Highly recommend CF stuff for...
