Terminating Cooling Lines (Thru Hull and how to hook up)

I haven’t worked with pex much, but I think the wall thickness would probably be a lot more than stainless tube. 3/8 ID hose is standard, so a 3/8 OD pex tube might only be a bit over 1/8 ID. I’m not sure how well 5200 will bond to slick plastic, even if it’s scuffed. The flexibility of it might...

    New Product Idea

If you have an accurate flow bench and access to a 3D printer, it would be interesting to see a few of your designs tested vs the ubiquitous ADA design. It would also be interesting to see each design tested with various flame arrestors to see how restrictive they are. Sent from my iPhone...

    Neglected 96 RN Build

I did a lot of back and forth in my head before doing it and read as much as I can find on here. Bro science says more flow is more better, I know that’s not always true but I figured it couldn’t possibly make it worse. To me, it seems like when the piston comes up it actually seals when it...

    Removing Top Deck? (1987 JS550 Rebuild/Engine Swap)

The air output is definitely a drawback to the air tools. A lot of oil mist also comes out, which I figure isn't good for where I plan to lay glass. I wrapped a shop towel around the base of the grinder where the air output is and zip tied it there and on the hose. This kept the dust storm down...

    Removing Top Deck? (1987 JS550 Rebuild/Engine Swap)

https://www.harborfreight.com/3-16-inch-x-11-ft-fiberglass-wire-running-kit-65327.html It is definitely a pain to try and get access up there with the hull flipped upside down, wearing googles, respirator and even headphones because of the sound and resonance grinding inside the hull. Your 550...

    Removing Top Deck? (1987 JS550 Rebuild/Engine Swap)

I'm in the same boat right now trying to repair / reinforce the pole mount area. Mine is about 1/4" thick now and I'd like to add about 1/4" material. I have 1708 and 1208 like you're using on hand. They're .044 and .037" thick respectively. So I was thinking 5-6 layers 1708 or 6-7 layers 1208...

    Surfriding Krash Predator Build

Build looks great. Just running the hose to the bottom of the bilge with a few extra inches to anchor it down seems like plenty. What pump shoe is that? Mine has that same star and just curious.

    Neglected 96 RN Build

Well, it's that time of year again. I got the ski where I wanted it cosmetically last year, but I didn't touch the motor or pump. Started the season on glazed cylinders with 165/185 psi (35cc domes) and ended about 3 psi lower, compression was still even though. Thankfully I didn't have any more...

    Other Attention all Cheapskates

I run a free program called popcorn time on the fire stick. Super easy to download just look up a YouTube tutorial. Has almost all major movies and tv shows for free. The hold up with the fire stick is the 2 gigs of free storage after the OS takes up the rest of the 8 gigs. Buy an otg cable for...

What's with all the molds for sale

Damn you take it so personal. First of all don’t use quotes on something I didn’t say. I said I’d do it for personal use, this is a hobby and it would be a good project. Forget I mentioned any prices or how much it should cost or whatever. The only reason I mentioned it was because selling few...

What's with all the molds for sale

I figured I'd get these kind of responses. I don't have any interest in trying to produce any hulls. Other than maybe a one off for personal use. And I know how long this kind of stuff takes, it is very time consuming. That being said, I don't see why a couple guys in a shop couldn't produce 2-3...

What's with all the molds for sale

I know I’ll be flamed for this but I’m honestly surprised they sell as many AM hulls as they do. Not them but the industry as a whole. I mean most of them go for as much as, or often more, as a complete rtr superjet. Most of us know how much fiberglass or carbon costs. I realize there’s lots of...

    Let's talk paint

To my knowledge epoxy primer sticks and holds up the best. In my opinion it’s best to do all filler over fiberglass for the best adhesion. Wet the surface and look down it with the right light and that’ll help point out the flaws. Also just running your hand back and forth over it. You could...

    Let's talk paint

http://www.x-h2o.com/index.php?threads/neglected-96-rn-build.192538/page-2 Here you go. I didn't list my wetsanding grits of the epoxy primer. I believe I went 320,400, 600 then paint.

    Let's talk paint

I did all my body work using cabosil thickened epoxy and glazing putty for all the little pinholes. Then I painted it. I let the epoxy dry overnight and wet sanded it the next day then paint. All the grits are on my build thread last February. The epoxy has a topcoat window of a couple days or...

    Let's talk paint

I used PPG shopline epoxy (~$55 qt) and Nason single stage urethane, also about 55 bucks. Only used about half a quart of each to do the whole ski. I sprayed it all with a 10 dollar HF gun. If I were to do it again all I would change is to upgrade to the HF 50 or 100 dollar gun for better...

SN SJ Factory foam fill holes...where???

Here’s where they are on a round nose. Not sure if it’s different on a sn. I already filled them but you can see on the left / right about 1/3 way up the bulkhead. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Broken steering bracket, can this be repaired? How do I fix this?

Just as a tip, excess 5200 is a pain to get off of things. Acetone will take it off before it dries, but it sucks. I’d dry fit the bracket and mask off up to the edge of the bracket on the pole and also on the bracket itself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
