Yes and 8.45 lbs probably good for surf ski and casual rec rider.
I managed to fit an Autocraft LFP-7 lithium 380 cca in my KDX and it did fine yesterday at Blues. The lake was super smooth and wake very steep directly behind boat, the crew is beaten up today sore.
Not if you get a super strong battery like an AGM 12,14 or 16 and just charge it after each day you ride OR have someone solder on a new OEM lighting coil. Sometimes it can be the voltage regulator which you have to just swap it out for a known good one or new You can ohm test the green wires/...
12.4 is getting low because 12.8 is fully charged. It's the cranking amps that remain at 12.4 volts that's more important than voltage as an indicator. Test your charging system by put a multimeter on battery when it's running and see if you get like a 13.4 volts reading.
Agree with above...Buying an aftermarket electrical part is asking for trouble, check your ground wire too many go bad right at the starter due to corrosion.
Mine is stored in a hot garage because it's mounted at the bulkhead at the bottom of hull making it impractical to remove each ride : ( I should build a box and mount it higher.
Any other thoughts on FW batteries ?
@McDog has had good success with the battery tender brand batteries too. I use their charger on the advanced auto parts Lithiums Autocraft but still TBD on reliability vs 1yr replacement hassle.
You have good luck with AG batteries? I know someone with $2000 worth of dead ones. I know Clemmons has them figured out with the proper charging method. Did you make that box for it?
What battery and charger have you been using lately that works ? Anyone have success with Autocraft lithium LFP-5? AGM 9' s work but are so heavy and they are tough to keep secured with the weight. Batteries in a FW ski have always been a pia especially mounted at bulkhead for me. Opinions...
Out of curiosity, what charger did you use on them ? The Lithium battery tender I used or water Intrusion ( even though I siliconed the seam) ruined mine in 5 weeks.
I would also like to hear some more feedback from any other users of this Autocraft battery.
I didn't have good luck with two of these exact batteries with saltwater use. I used a Lithium 800 milliamp battery tender and sealed seams with silicone. They both got weaker after 4 or 5 weeks use and would show only 2 out 3 included test lights after a 20 minute TL ride. They were both...
