OK well I took my plate off, but can someone explain to me how to adjust the barrel adjusters on the plate and the nozzle?

depends on how strong your paint is. I would soften it up with acetone and take plastic scraper to it. Pressure washer is another good way, but if you are not careful and/or the paint is weak, it may come off.
