take a standard 44 flame arrestor adapter. Flip it upside down and bolt it to the stock 44 FA. Connect the top of the black jack carb to the upside down FA adapter with a piece of 3 or 4 ply coupling hose (same blue stuff used on a b pipe, but smaller in diameter).

I don't think you'll be able to re-sleeve the 61x cylilnder, buy new pistons, and and a new crank for $500-$600.
But you should be able to pick up a new crank, new pistons, and a bore/hone for $500-$600
The bracket itself will bolt onto your FX-1, but that style of bracket doesn't offer the front hood latch required for an FX-1 hood. You'd have to figure out how to keep your FX-1 hood on if you ran an X-metal style backet.

I run a spring with my x-metal pole.
I've done it on two different brackets. I'm using a shortened 750sx spring. Was easier to install on the x-metal style bracket compared to my new Cold-Fusion bracket.
