you don't need very much at all. Just a very thin coat between the case halves and be careful not to use a lot near seal areas so that 1211 doesn't get in the crank bearings.
Some say coat the cylinder base gasket, while others don't.
You can use 1211 for a bunch of other uses also... like...
I'm glad I dragged your butt out to the surf to get back into this go-round. I remember the first time we rode together a couple years back you said "I usually only come out when the surf is huge, but I guess I'll ride today"... haha
I think one reason why I'm not into riding as I use to be is that I don't want to hurt myself. I've always been a careful my whole life, not a big risk taker, have never broken a bone or had a cast. Any progression above my current riding level would require getting hurt every once in a while.
Doesn't sound like a bad idea... with different head thicknesses you'd have to make sure the studs would be long enough, but you have to do that with bolts any ways. might be a little tricky getting a girdled head on and keeping the combustion o-rings in place, but that might already be a...
I can say that I've kinda lost my drive for riding this last year or so. I'm not excited like I use to be to go riding. A buddy and myself use to ride multiple times a week if possible (after work and sat & sun). Now I'm lucky if I make it out once every couple of weeks. Don't know what has done...
I think I'm 9 years in right now. I've had a superjet for 4 years now, had an SXR for 4 years prior to that, and and various 550's and 650's prior to that.
Economy probably has a lot to do with the loss of riders and visits and postings here on the X.
But for the surf riding, I can't speak for everybody, but I'm all for new guys that want to surf ride as long as they know what they are getting into and as long as themselves and their skis are...
Jetworks for sure... Art from jetworks ported my 61x cylinder with what exactly called a "surf port". If you call him be prepared to talk for a while. It won't be a short conversation. Awesome experience for me. I don't think I'll ever deal with another company.
And this time of year he might...
I just shipped an engine out and got good feedback by the purchaser once it arrived. He said it "looked just like a new box".
This engine still had bed plates attached and a girdled cylinder head. Tapped up all the holes and double trash bagged the engine.
I then took a 16x16x16 box. Lined...
100% agree. I'll eat a buck or two in shipping cost before I drive down to the post office to stand in line.
When shipping to some countries, you can't get shipping insurance online I've noticed. The only way to have it insured is to go down to the post office. Happened to me once or twice...
I agree... with selling used parts for me most parts cost less than $100 and thus gets free insurance from UPS, but for my USPS packages, I usually only add insurance if the item is $35 or more. Anything below that I'll just eat the cost if there ends up being a problem.
Did you ship through paypal? Or did you go down to the post office?
I always always at least get a shipping confirmation number from USPS.
I ship a lot of small stuff 1st class mail USPS (under 13 oz) and since I do it through paypal they automatically tack on the shipping confirmation...
For my home network, I have our two laptops backing up to a 4TB (2x2TB) NAS running as RAID 1. All of my media is stored on the NAS (mostly movies/tv shows and some archived files that don't need to be on the laptops). Everything from there is backed up to an cloud backup once a day (Mozy Home)...
You're kidding right??? You can get 1tb portable for that price on the right day with a sale. I've seen 2tb desktop harddrives going for $85 shipped lately also.
check out slickdeals.net on a daily basis... you'll find all kinds of good deals.
