MATT. sounds like your cable are bad. If this situation happens again, trying bringing some redundant cables with alligator clips so you can clip them on for an extra ground or 12v and see if the problem persists( find some fat wire for this.)

i have air in mine all the time. its those big filters. they don't get a chance to fill up. mine runs great. if the air gets to the carbs, you'll know real quick.

have you checked compression?
