I'd get a couple of the stock Yamaha mounting hooks from Jet Maniac, epoxy them in the hull to add a strap going across the battery.

Glad you found the issue. I have a related question, the billet case on a Dasa 1200 has no timing marks. How do you know where to set the stator?

I want to repaint my SJ this winter and change the graphics, but I have very nice turf on the tray and bond line and I hate to have to re do it. I know I could tape it off, but I'm not thinking I'd like the results. Anyone do this? How did it turn out?
