I'd tend to agree with Christian on the brain going. The backfire you get just before loosing spark is likely caused by it failing.
Certainly worth going through every wire and connection as suggested to rule that out, brains aren't cheap so worth a good check first.
From personal experience - Keep an eye on that water box (especially if set low in the hull without a 'dog leg'), for water back wash into your motor. I noticed the PFP entry and exit pipes are at different levels to reduce the chance of this happening. I ended up using a PFP style water box...
It's fits no problem at all, done two of them already myself! It's snugg doing the jubilee clips up but take you're time and it's fine! Major upgrade in thrust over a 144 for sure.
You'll notice there is no inner collar to worry about - but straight up to firewall.

It's actually easy now RRP make a specific pump shoe (without the inner ring) that fit right in. Used to be a right pain with grinding etc but simple now.
I've done and run two XFS of your shape with this 155 setup and it works really nice.
Is anyone running a PFP / DASA 10mm with MSD Enhancer (rather than TL) and is it ok? I've seen this setup with the RRP pipe work really well, but clearly that's a wet pipe. Does the MSD Enhancer have too much advance higher up the curve for the dry PFP or is it ok?
Thanks for any views /...
It can be tricky if you've not done one before, you'll also need a TDC spark plug gauge and an understanding of what the dip switches need to be set to for your particular setup.
If you've never done anything like this it might make sense to ask your engine builder to set it up (or get an HX3 or...
I've always done the same. Charging raises the voltage of the system to around 14v and 'might' create current spike when the clips are connected - for that reason I choose to disconnect. Some don't and never have an issue, personal choice I guess.
Always seem to get the most issues with bad...
Get a blow torch and heat the poop out of the mating areas - tap a pry bar into the pry lugs and it should go. Lots and lots of heat is the ticket. Be careful of the surrounding areas and have a bucket of water to hand just in case.
