1995 Yamaha Superjet Resto-Mod

Accurate statement....

Also I wanted to ask, Are you glassing in the side walls, or is the current look the final design plan - footholds. Was curious about why you added in the ramps towards the front.

Honestly the only reason I added the ramps was to hide the exhaust, and the other side to make the tray look symmetrical. I wanted the tray to be as open as possible. In hindsight I would have moved the exhaust lower and put an S pipe inside the engine compartment, thus giving me space to make the tray completely open and flat. That was an afterthought though. So again, the ramps are only to hide the exhaust tube and the other side to match for it to look even. Maybe they will help with heavy subs haha?? Everything you see in the photos is glassed in. Just need to sand it a bit and then I’m ready for paint! I probably won’t run any footholds but maybe some foam blocks to keep my feet relatively in place if it becomes a problem. As for now my riding style doesn’t really require footholds. But I do have an adjustable set that could easily bolt into the side walls if I ever want some.

Open is interesting my only issue I think I would have with it is that the side rails look like they will be pushing the legs in and make using all the extra side space not the most comfortable.I'm thinking I'll be doing something similar to yours but with the rails about half the depth as your finished product. Then I'll be looking for some bolt on foot holds. Other option I guess would be to glass in some footholds but I will probably have a lot of people riding this thing so adjustables would probably be nice

True, but I figured if I didn’t like it I could always fill in the space with foam and cover it.

I was able to get the ski sanded down last weekend but it was such a mess and with a truthful 10 hours of work on it, I wasn’t thinking about photos. I’ll take some this afternoon when I get it out for the final touches of sanding.

I did however begin assembly of my new mid shaft a few weeks ago. I first installed the clip and pressed in the bearing, then the other clip but, While setting the front seal depth I made a mistake and pushed the seal all the way against the bearing. I removed the seal without marring up my new midshaft housing too bad and ordered a new one. This time I knew to not to tap the seal into place with a bearing or seal driver. I had a good idea to use a tool at work that is made for installing bicycle bottom brackets, it’s just a simple hand press. It worked perfectly for setting the seal depths very accurately!

After that it was time to install the midshaft itself. I personally decided to ignore the service manual stating to install the shaft, then the rear seals. I installed the rear seals to the specified depths, shined a light through the seals and could see them evenly placed around the grease fitting hole, remeasured depth, spun the coupler on and then pressed the shaft in with no issues. I got it set to about 19.75mm which should be perfect.

Lastly I began to clean up my engine mounts/bolts and lower engine case/flywheel cover. In order to prep for engine assembly which I plan to do next week while the ski is being painted FD213A8A-BF0E-43BF-9487-F7B7FD182BD8.jpeg

Found this discontinued Blowsion nose cover for the square nose on eBay about a year ago. I’m happy to finally put it to use! I sure do love the lines on a square nose, I really love the shape of them... almost as much as a 550 ;)0543CA19-941E-4E04-A034-912A58C5BEF6.jpegB4565BC7-0113-4BDB-82E1-51E32B6F89E1.jpeg43403FB8-A7DF-46E7-A711-8B679620C548.jpeg3EF280B1-9BA6-4D14-8C7D-41E44E06BA15.jpeg1173D5C1-4A48-4DA9-9CF3-24D4AF598423.jpegABA22B71-46EF-4381-ABCF-B1EB1B3D0D3D.jpeg7618CF2C-79CC-4C3F-BCF5-94A02F13EBAD.jpegEF520C56-E3B8-4574-9131-93F13AFDB50F.jpeg

Yesterday I took some time to make sure my WORX pump shoe and Pro-Tec ride plate fit properly before everything gets painted. I had to do some grinding but nothing crazy. Next step is to align the pump 4355FA20-4A60-416E-AE4A-E2E7E277B155.jpeg311150F7-1BB7-4D65-9956-4FD5E31B5150.jpegD75CEB66-6BA7-49A0-A012-54FD78AA0C7B.jpegE7891342-126B-4CC5-BDF2-653B14519035.jpeg81D4F38D-8BA7-4100-93FF-8E9105B0CA6D.jpeg

Special thanks to @tomski for coming through with the discontinued Blowsion handlepole bracket. Legend has it this is the last one left... Man, I was sweating finding one of these and you did me a huge favor! Can’t wait to install it... now I just have to figure out how to get it anodized a different color

Very nice build! Took me forever to find my billet handle pole bracket as well last year.... Also had mine reanodized like you are thinking.. if you haven't found an anodizer I know of a couple that I would highly recommend... One guy in particular has done numerous paintball markers, and my ski anodizing list as well.. Pic of my skis anodizing

Thanks! I am interested in some companies for the coating, who do you suggest??

Looks dam near spot on.So the final alignment should be easy!
Yes! So I didn’t totally align the pump, it’s pretty hard to bear hug that hull and flip it by myself. Wasn’t so bad without the pump but that weight made it pretty hard to wrestle with but seeing how close it was, I think it’s safe to paint. Also in that picture, all the bolts are tight.

Well, I had some extra time due to the unfortunate worldly circumstances. I wish everyone the best. Originally I was going to take my boat to some place that was letting my brother use the paint booth. After that kinda fell through and seemed sketchy I decided to just paint the ski myself. I borrowed a nice pop up tent from work, I set up my paint booth and tried my hand at painting. I followed the instructions on the epoxy primer and sprayed the underside of my ski/hood and nose piece. At least today is awesome weather! 610D0A13-5733-4A7D-B0C7-1972F1CE909B.jpegBE3A679D-119D-48C7-B8C5-7B06B9332D41.jpeg9C898208-0348-4C3B-92A6-916F5B27860A.jpegBD44F481-04B8-48A3-9C07-BA6305F45EBA.jpegDBD69AE5-8B02-4722-9BED-A8ECD6073E2C.jpeg75B713BE-18D9-4E31-A1A7-4057F70044E4.jpeg3D6FD79D-E418-4A8F-971A-6483F11843AC.jpeg

Looks good. Make sure you follow the top coat instructions on that primer. Usually around 48 hours to spray it with high build primer or your base coat before it needs to be scuffed and redone with epoxy.
