hopefully not! Do you really want everyone on here with a RN to lose half or more of the value of their ski?? Good for someone that doesn't own one, not for people with them. I don't really think this thing will affect the price much, it will be able while before a lot of them are out there, plus it looks the same as a RN whereas a SN looks drastically different. That hull doesn't look like it will be as good for flatwater freestyle anyways.

it wouldnt matter to me much because mine will be a rusty, cracked and sunken POS by the time im done with it.if evrythings works out right, of course.
but that would suck if you just spent 3gs on one. i was just dreamin

The info sheet at the premier stated 139kg (305.8 lbs). I assume that some of the weight came from the increased surface area, and material used to get it, at the front of the hull. The trim ring and positioning bracket contribute some. There is also going to be more material in the bottom of the hull due to moving everything rearward, yet less due to being narrower. The hose running to the crack washer and the nipple on the pump add some. The new style steering joint and the bolt to mount it add some. Even with all these minor weight gains I still don't see it making as much difference as stated.

The weight difference and the impeller are a couple of things that haven't been changed in the 2008 specs page on the website.

You guys better get used to the idea of a 4-stroke in there... cause the days of the 2-stroke from Yamaha are numbered and they're putting all of their R&D into the 4-strokes. Just look at their snowmobiles, out of all of their snowmobiles for '08 they offer like one 2-stroke and it's not even a performance sled. My guess is that they've redesigned this hull to take the 4-stroke they're planning on putting in there and because Yamaha doesn't want to take too far of a step forward (and they want to milk what they've got for all it's worth) they threw in the old "tried & trued" 701. And in a year or two, they'll swap the motors.

Tubbies do not make a SJ handle anywhere like a SXR... It is the shape of the bottom of the hull where it goes into the pump and the skinnier back end that make it handle better.

when a SJ is set up in race form, Tubbies, hull extensions, long ride plate, it makes the ski handle the water with some of the same attributes as the SXR....... But it takes the total package......... you also have to add about 50lbs to the ski also..

Ok my math and conversion was a little off:1zhelp:

Maybe a little heavier.
But feels the same for flatwater freestyle as my jet and does handle like an SXR, that is the verdict, buy one and you'll see. We ordered ours yesterday. See them first of OCT. Bring on the deposits..........:01:

Don’t all the fmx guys ride 2 stokes? When very light weight is what is important 2 stroke is the way to go. Figure in the fact that these motors get water ingestion regularly it makes the 2 stroke the only good choice.

i imagine it'll be the same as mx... 4strokes for the serious racers... 2strokes for the freestylers.

For Shizzle... but why?

4-stroke= more user friendly linier(sp) powerband, great for racing.... I think Hydrospace is stupid for using a Turbo for the extra power, as it would seem to me that Lag would be an isuue around bouys.... If Yamaha does take the new FX SHO and hack it in half and leaves it SUPERCHARGED, I think this will be the hot motor setup for Standup racing.

Why do FMX guys ride two strokes? WEIGHT!.... well they have ramps, we have Waves.... weight doesnt matter to MOST SURF GUYS, so why does weight matter for FMX guys when they have huge ramps?:swordfight:... because most people just dont know what they are talking about..... been there done it, fugged around, this is what I found.:tomato:

The x-games step-up jump winner this year was on a 4-stroke. That event is all about weight, acceleration, bike control, and a 4-stroke got it easily this year.

IMHO That was because the power band of the 4 stroke, it was hooking up far better then the 2-smokes (hard hitting Powerband) on the runway... there is no going upside down in that event either......

any of you guys rember doug henry? the biggest fear for fmx riders i would think is their havn a hiccup off the lip. doug henrys original yz400 did that off the lip in MD and broke both wrist when he landed straight into the front of the landing. not to mention goin upside down. my crf every once in awhile wouldnt hit when id blip the throttle off the lip. it took awhile to learn that you had to roll the throttle all the way off the lip.

I'm curious how long it will take befor the aftermarket makes a copy of this bottom.

how long until the first bottom deck conversion comes out? (copying the new bottom)

To me it looks almost like the X-Jet, circa 2004.

im still stoked that yamaha cared enough to change ANYTHING. a good sign, no matter what

My guess is their old molds broke, so they had to do something new, lol.
