Freestyle 2015 DVX build

This season as usual is way too busy for me to find time to build another ski, but as usual I sold everything I had and decided to start new again. This build started a while ago in my head, and I started gathering OEM as well as aftermarket pasts last season. As we all know delivery for parts can keep you off the water for 6 months easily. Especially Pumps, Motors, and Hulls. This was part of the reason I started my planning a year in advance. This time around I decided to go with an Xscream DVX Carbon hull. As anyone knows who has ridden one, it is quite comparable to my older KDX, and rides flat and loose, but hooks when required. I took delivery at WaveDaze as Rick from XScream and Johnny Leftley helped me out. Way too much going on so I had Xscream mount the Pole, steering, bars and all inserts for my build. Rick was great to deal with as usual. Had a visit down there in Nov to confirm exactly what I wanted. I am going to run the black primer with vinyl for a clean look. I plan on this build bein all business, and the look of the ski should match. P&P Performance, TPE, Myself and Patch Motors are providing assisstance on this build/tune.

Parts are from XScream, Fast Elements, East Coast Performance, Yamaha, Jetmaniac, Wizzard Powersports, Rage Composite Works, H20 Products, Thrust, Power Factor Products, Full Spectrum Racing Carburetors, Boyesen Racing.

The build parts will be as follows:

HULL:
2015 XScream DXV, Carbon, with extra layer in the bottom, where specified
Dual scupper, 155 Shoe installed, inserts installed
XScream Carbon Rideplate
XScream Comp length pole Steering and bars
Hydroturf, black cut, smooth, and molded diamond.

PUMP:
H20 155mm Torrent a while ago to try but wasnt allowed to say as it was not yet released was a Skat 14 vein MAG pump, H20 Driveshaft
10/18 Skat starter prop, special cuts, and set back
Reduction nozzle bored to 88mm, Steering 92mm
XScream trim with boot

MOTOR:
TPE 1105, 10mm 50/50 gas domes Custom work by Erik himself
Boyesen Intake and carbon and glass reeds
Full Spectrum 49mm ALVR 5's, custom for this set up from ED
MSD TL Dual
PFP and Water box
Mikuni remote fuel pump

I wont go into too many details yet as im trying to get this build done and on the water for testing. There are a lot of custom parts, porting, tweaking, bending, etc that we have now learned on the last few builds that were implimenting here. It all takes time, and is always double what you figure, but worth it when its done correct the first time.

From here the ski sat for a month as other jobs had to come first before my personal build. Go figure

Finally in May I had some free time to start the turf work. After speaking to quite a few people and riding a few skis in the past I decided to have the footholds be separate from the regular turf and work to my advantage XScreams already 1" tilt of the footholds to 2".

For anyone who has done turf, you know how long the process takes. This longer as hte temps here were very low and even witht the shop heat, the moisture in the air make the glue drying process take longer.

We made the foot blocks form a more dense material that Turf. Thakns to all involved in this selection process and in the supply of them. These took forever to cut properly and fit to the hull, but I feel will deffinitely assist on the landings and set of of the next trick.

The footholds themselves are cut hydroturf. Its softer and will wear but is more sticky to grip your foot on kick in. XSream is now using cleats with theirs, but I'm not at that level of riding so to me the kick in method with Acis is still the best for me. On the bottom pad, I used the molded as the wear is minimal in this area. Smooth for the balance for looks. Thanks to my wife for the turf assistance on this job as it wasnt easy. Just need to glue the seams to make sure it will never come loose.

Ur going to love that dvx with a tpe1105 I love mine lol and cleats are no joke I bought chris langlais ski and we are same size shoe so I just bought cleats and what a difference

Great timing. I will be turfing my dvx in the next week or two and have been struggling with how to do the blocking in the foot holds. I really like the giant wedge you have there. Where did you get the blocks for that?

The blocks were from a supplier that only had one piece. Not sure where most get them from. Interested to hear what most people use. I have been told PFP blocks, this was very similar Durometer and composition.

Im almost certain the blocks in my footholds and my shock pad are made out of Yoga Blocks like this.

Little more progress the last few days. Pump and trim install took forever to get alligned but its perfect now. The CF tool helps quite a bit. Nice product Carl. Thanks to Paul for the loan. Next is midshaft then bilge set up.

hStarting to come together faster now. As most here know the most important part is the turf and pump/midshaft allignment. Shimming the motor is pretty straight forward. I'm well over 100 hours into this build. Custom parts casue custom problems. There have been quite a few bumps in the road so far. Im sure there will be more to come.

Last nights shop crew, manged to do a DASA 971 complete build for a Footrocket and a Carbon XFS motor shim, pole setup. Nice work, enjoyed all the feedback from the crew.

New OEM midshaft, seals and OEM shaft only for this power plant. ADA couplers, as these seem to now be my coupler of choice. Small, OEM Kawi size, Kawi OEM coupler, unlike the cheaper urethanes it wont break down and wear to shreads in the bottom of my hull over time.



Few more OEM must use parts for any build. Nothing but the best here, OEM Mounts, OEM HD steering cable, OEM throttle cable.



Thanks to Paul for the custom bilge bracket. It fits perfect in this and most hulls, think well have to make a few for spares soon. Great idea, perfect spot.

Next up is the Power Factor Pipe install. The blocking changes for each hull, motor stroke, etc. Sometimes it takes an Hour to do some times days, or once weeks as i had to order another to custom fit a hull. Fingers crossed

Can't do too many at once, way too many builds as is going on. The Havoc is a great choice but production was behind on them so I went with the DVX. You cant lose either way

I am still waiting on having my Havoc built but I did slack a little on getting all the needed parts. Spring time rush came in at work and I had no time to do anything!!! But they have 99% of parts now so hopefully I will be on the water soon. Keep the pics and progress rolling in. I look forward to watching this build.

Well finally making some more progress. Pipe is all pressure tested and in. Still need to do all pumbing, etc as the tuning boat water lines dont match

Have the Odyssey Battery installed and super tight.

I'm interested to see how the quick connects hold up over time. sweet idea for sure. Hey have you ever had issues with the waterbox melting the straps without turf to help insulate them?
