Surfriding 2016 KittyCraft v2 build

I ordered the Thrust Ez drain since I needed something to plug this 2" hole in my ski and Tony likes versa plug style drains instead of scuppers. I've heard a lot of people not liking the versa plugs and @skinnyman just got one of these not too long ago on his Rickter. The grate on the back makes it easy to remove and or dislodge the ball of it gets stuck.

I thought it was going to be a easy install. Just push the cone in the hole and glue the back piece on. It still wasn't a "hard" install but it was more involved that I thought when I ordered it. I was unaware that I was going to have to cut the hull all the way around the 2" tube to install it. Only took a trip to Home Depot for a router bit and a few minutes with a dremel. This hull is pretty thick. I cut 1/2" deep all the way around the tube and it's still solid. It didn't go through to the tray cavity anywhere.

It didn't quite fit so I had to get the grinder out and do a little trimming.

Started putting my xmetal pinch bolts in and they were pretty tight in the bushings. I really didn't want to drill them out so I cut a socket to fit the pinch bolt. I might regret it when it comes time to change the bushings but it's too late now. Lol

That is freaking ingenious. I always wondered why Pad did not machine in a hex wrench hole.

It made easy work of it. Pretty easy to make. Just took a $5 6p socket from Lowe's. Cut off wheel on a grinder did most of the work and finished up with a dremel

I don't like to do fiberglass work but there are a couple things I wanted to tackle. I added 3 layers of 14 oz 8hs s-2 glass on the foot holds. All the adjustable holds of Tony's I've tried flex too much for my liking. I also need to reinforce the tray. Everything on this ski feel solid but the tray flexes a bit when I push on it. I would hate to crack it after a few bad landings.

After everything cured I trimmed them up. Not too bad just one bubble I had to grind out.

I was hoping this would stiffen them up more than it did. They still flex some when I pull on them. I used up most of my 14oz. Looks like after I lay down some 21oz on the tray I'll be putting the rest on the holds.

I can vouch for the 1015. Thing is an animal and I don't believe my friend has had any issues with his. In the video, it was technically my first day flatwater flipping and riding anything bigger than a 701. I will agree though, if the V2 is going to be your surf/ rec ski, I'd go with a stock stroke. Check out "davebrochuraski" on IG. He's got a carbon SV-1 with a tpe964 and the dude flies. I've ridden @jeastes1 V2 with an Xscream ss865 in it and that ski was fun as hell.
That thing sounds mean

I haven't made any progress in a couple weeks. I was wanting to epoxy on these trick foot strap mounts I got from Taylor Curtis before I reinforce my tray. I can't find them for the life of me. I have tore my garage apart looking and nothing. I guess I'll have to order more. @Dirtybird got on to me today for not getting on with this build so I decided to do something after I got my garage put back together. I got a few things in from XScream last week. Hood breather tubes were one of them. Pretty easy install but not many places to put them.

I haven't touched my ski in over a month. I've been working on a friends doing a fixed steer conversation and just freshening it up.

one of my best turf jobs yet I think. Not done yet but waiting on parts.

I finally received my pump on October 27 that I've been trying to get since January.

It heavy but other than that I think it's going to work perfectly. This is my first one piece pump and I'm glad I got the extended prop tool. Prop is pretty far down in there.

Yesterday I decided to trim my shoe and make sure everything was going to fit. Tony said he already trimmed it but he did it before he put in all the cooling lines and such.

The front bolt holes in the pump didn't line up and needed to be elongated. Wasn't very happy about that but whatever. The holes in the reduction nozzle lined up perfectly after I compressed the pump seal.

With the pump bolted in and aligned I have about 1/4" worth of shims on each side. Also I felt inside where the pump meets the shoe and there is a 1/4" step on the bottom and top. I adjusted the shoe where there is a smooth transition and now the shoe hangs down past the bottom of the hull. I think I'm going to take it to a Machine shop and have them take 1/4 off the bottom of the shoe.

Anyone have anything they want to add about the duct shoe having to be lower and me taking a 1/4" off the bottom? I know it's going to cause the intake grate to sit lower if I ever run one but is that all it's going to affect?

Have them machine some off where the intake grate sits or machine some off your intake grate to make it so it's not hanging down too much. IMO any ski rides like crap when the back of the grate hangs down more than it's supposed to.

I went with an oem plastic shoe on my build because I hate the grinding and fitting you have to do on a metal one to make it work right.
