sorry i'm in love with it
Thanks for the correction.
I rode the SJ for the first REAL time this friday after a total gut. Still having a minor carb issue with the rear 38 carb DUMPING fuel into the cylinder while riding (but still not running tooo bad). Besides it eating 1/2 tank in 15 mins..... I just have to center the steering some.
But WOW. This rides NOTHING.....NOTHING like an X2. Turns that the X2 would slide on the SJ grabs and dumps you. I am still getting used to reboarding, as its very slightly harder then the x2. But overall big thumbs up. I cant wait to get my pump with 12/17 mag and TBM in it. Ported 701 motor sounds so F'ing mean with the hood...lol.
very cool! get some video if you can.
Shawn I have seen some needles get hung up on the lever as they have a little bump on em sometimes. keeps it from closing and just floods all the time, also some crap might be stuck in the needle and check the little clear plastic flap on the part of the carb that is held in over the jets with the two phillips.
If you're not already doing it you'll need to learn to side mount that ski. it's too hard tor reboard from the rear.
sorry i'm in love with it
Any tips on side boarding?
better check the dimensions first, it may hit the liner. which will require a spacer or modding the liner.
get on left side of the ski. put your right leg in the back of the tray turn the bars right and gas it.
it shouldn't take a lot of throttle to pull you out of the water when you have it down.
When I first started I'd end up doing a pirouette 2 or 3 times trying to get on and balanced but once you get used to it you get right on.
shawn, I didn't want to fluff you while we were talking numbers but you were one of a small handful of people I would have sold that hood to. Otherwise I would have just kept if forever. It has to stay in the family. I can't wait to see what comes of it.
Was that Dave's hood, the guy who used to work for Paul Jr. back around 2002 or so?
I was told is was ridden my smitty, not sure if that is dave or not.
Real build starts right after wavedaze and must be completed before daytona....Footholds, refoam, reinforcement, swap out 760 elec to reg 62T with TBM flywheel, and new carbs.
i have tubbies on mine and would'nt ride with out them
you need tubbies too. You won't believe how that thing will turn with tubbies.
my bars are u.m.i for a seadoo little taller and wider i cut one inch off each side i like them, i run the same on my blasters . i love my hood i just got a 2nd one these weekend working on a flat deck.
pretty common i think... prolly a forward weight thing. i just TRY to to be very conscious of the fact and keep the nose up @ all cost while shifting my weight as far back in the tray as possible.Good point, I noticed when going over the back of a wave to the front I nosed it in BAD twice. Seemed to want to nose in worse then the X2 did. Tubbies added to the winter check list.
:fing02:... like on rails!with a fixed steering hood you can really get the tubbies to dig in with your weight more forward.
