well i put the flywheel in today and tryed to remove the timing plate but the head of the screws are striped. So i am ording the retard kit tonight.

One side of carbon is done. The guy i bought it from like pre impregnated it so i dont know if it is gonna stick i had to put weight on the one side i did and hope it drys good.

uhhh...:pokey: I hope you got it for extremely cheap because I've got a bad feeling about the structural properties of that stuff now. I don't know anything about that fabric but if it's just curing in your garage with a book on it, you've probably just wasted it.

One other thing... Since you've seen my build, you know I'm not closed minded. However, with as many posts as I've seen with people shearing woodruff keys, I'd be a bit hesitant to run without one all together. A little slip here and a little slip there and you'll be backfiring or burning up pistons in no time.

yea i agree i feel like the fiber was a waste i will see tomorrow. It was already plasticy when i got it so it didnt absorb the resin very well. I have reinforced the top deck with fiberglass cloth so hopefully even if it isnt very strong maybe it will stick to the hull for looks. If not i will rip it off and get the appliance epoxy black out. i got the fingers crossed

I put the flywheel wheel on with the key. So its in the stock position. The timing plate is still in, i ordered the retard kit. So when its set and done my timing will be advanced 2 degrees.

The plasticy thing is what prepreg is. It's the resin and cloth mixed together in perfect proportion for the highest strength to weight ratio. Normally you vauum bag it and cook it and the resin melts and cures (basically). It's lighter and easier to work with...IF...you have all the special tools. Since it sounds like you used resin in addition to what was already on the fabric, maybe it'll stick for looks and add some stiffness but the 750 really doesn't need any beefing up so you'll be fine.

Well I wish both of you more luck than I had/have with my 750. Although I consider mine an arm ripper, it has certainly come with a price... That price being a massive amount of time building, fixing, fixing, fixing, and more fixing. I think I'm slowly getting all the unreliable bits worked out though.

ya, but thats ok with me cuz i am learning ALOT:bananalama:

john you have reed stuffers, or reed spacers in yours?
i have r&d stuffers

i honestly dont know haha. when i got my boat it was already all built and only had to be rebuilt so i never rode that ski without em... however it does have more punch then my dads his ski is all stock except for a coffmans pipe (same one as yours) he has a '95 so its a big pin with dual 38 kiehins and i have a single 44 mikuni sbn on the r&d manifold with r&d stuffers and reeds

Consider them AFTER you have ridden your ski with all the new mods first.

I prefer to do one thing at a time so I know what is worth the money and what isn't. Unfortunately, I'm not able to do that with the SJ since it's most of the things I'm doing to it require a great deal of time. I've ordered a new hooker impeller for the SJ but I'm seriously debating to wait until I've ridden it with all the motor and hull mods first before installing it.

yea i agree i will put them on the list but it wont be untill after i have rode it. I still have to tune the carb for the new head. then i got the msd and the flywheel soo hopefully big improvements.

I dont want to mess with muiltiple parts that will effect the jetting at the same time. that way i still have a base and something to go off of.

Well good news! Changing the head, flywheel, and CDI should have virtually zero effect on your carb settings. I've gone from stock to total loss ignition and a stock head to a 185psi head and haven't touched the carb. I didn't didn't notice so much as a little hesitation or bog after either. I've tried tweaking it a tad in the past and always end up just putting it back.

Now a pipe or flame arrestor will change your carb quite a bit.

well i would think the head with more compression would require more fuel. I bumped the high and low jets up one size for the start but i write everything down so its easy to go back to what i had.
