Looks like you are going to have a nice ride when you are done. How do you like that skat 8/16 swirl? I bougth one for my sxr that im building.

its great!!! HUGE IMPROVEMENT!! but my ski didnt have the big hub where your SXR does already so i dont know if it will make as much of a diffrence but i am sure it will help. PROPs to JFW for telling me buy that 8/16 swirl

well i would think the head with more compression would require more fuel. I bumped the high and low jets up one size for the start but i write everything down so its easy to go back to what i had.

You might want to try a quarter or half turn on the mixture screws instead of larger jets. The keihins are pretty sensitive.

alrighty i will hvae to play with it when its together. the fun of trail and error jetting.

I would rather start rich though and go down from there.

Very true... Meanwhile, I'd rather staple my nuts to the desk before tuning another carb. God I hate tuning carbs!!

lol its not bad we got a spot here where we can unload right on the beach ride in the same area then beach the ski right at the truck and get the tools. so i dont mind that much. plus i have many years of racing motocross we changed the jets everyweekend.

I used a single K42 on two different 750 setups, one with a stock pipe and the other with a ported cyl and Coffmans 650 pipe. Jetting them was very easy. You can tell exactly where the pilot is by holding about 1/4 throttle and listening to the exhaust. It will be clean with an 80 and sputter with an 85. For the surf try an 85 and clip a coil off of the spring. This should be plenty rich and give the best response. If it sputters too much then going to an 82 will make it noticeably cleaner. For the main jet, anything between a 150 and 180 will work with the only difference being where the top screw ends up. The screw is efective enough to kill power by opening it 3 turns. This is where to start, lean it in 1/4 turn at a time until it makes good power and stop. 750s will not take very much timing advance at full rpm with a peaked out carb setting. Be extra carefull with those advance plates, I stopped using them.

wow i would have to check but i think i had a 145 and a 72.5 in there before with the coffman rocket pipe and AM flame arrestor. then i bumped it up one size on each for the head but havent tested it yet.

i have the sudko (however you spell it) 42mm if it make a diffrence

Your 145 main will be fine, the top screw will provide plenty of extra fuel for tuning. The pilot will need to be rich enough so the engine is sputtering around 1/4 throttle or else it will not respond well for surf riding. The bottom screw only affects idle and can be set on the trailer.

well the carbon turned out bad. Its stuck well on the flats, but even after filling the bond line it wont stick there so i dont know what i will do either try and get the other side and let it dry for days like i did the one side or i will have to some out get it off the ski I will be working hard this weekend as i need to finish my engine bay, paint the ski and hopefully make it to daytona. ( i am including monday in the weekend since we dont work for MLK)

If you try again, put a heat lamp or space heater near the cloth. You'll probably want around 200°-300°F on that fabric for a few hours in order to cook the resin into the cloth. If you can make shift a vacuum bag on the cloth, that will be your best option...just don't use normal resin this time. Pre-preg is usually stored in a freezer to keep the epoxy from going bad but it's also usually stable at room temperature for a few days.

ski is painted!! Travis and i worked nearly non stop this weekend and 25 hours straight at the paint booth but its done.

The Carbon is only on the sides since it was so much of a pain to do that. I used the turbo kerosen heater to get it to stick.

as far as the paint i took a lot of pics this is the only one with clear though so this is all you get untill i put the ski together this weekend. the bond line didnt get painted cause i have the Blowsion turfed rail extensions to put on. Also we didnt finish the custom hood so i painted the stock one for now.

I have my turf extension and retard kit. I am only waiting on my drop in handholds and bulb primer. I will put the ski together this weekend. I ordered the blowsion drop ins to put in my stock hood untill we finish the custom hood. I am also still waiting on my high roller poll. Bill said he would finish and ship it this week.
