What was he hurting? Pete has given alot of himself over the years and not asked for much back...now he asked because he really wanted to go, for whatever reasons were important to him...

Would anyone have voiced an opinion if Pete had not met with some success? It looked to me that people were pretty stoked to be able to help him get to Oregon, and agreed to help him of their own free will, and that is bad why? What is really funny to me is that all of you "men" have an opinion about this now but it took a woman to sack up and say what she was thinking...


Now, that being said, Pete is his own worst enemy and his reaction was way outta line...instead of diffusing a bomb he added gas, nails, and broken glass and all it did was explode in his face...Pete, love ya bud but you get outta hand when you get upset...

so what if its a vacation for him...so what if you don't think the sport should grow...the people directly involved with the transactions between themselves and Pete clearly do not agree with these sentiments...if people who can be charitable with their personal wealth/items/etc are all good then who are any of us to pass judgment on something that 1. has no bearing on us directly and B. does not involve us except by proxy of the X?

Charlie did what Charlie always does...question. I wish the thread was still all in one piece but Charlie did not come out guns blazing, nor did his wife...they made observations about the situation, and Pete reacted to those observations...

I did not realize the thread was just locked, not deleted...its all still there for anyone to read and make their own opinions on...

Could they have kept well enough to themselves? Yeah. Did they? No. But it was up to Pete as to how he would react to it.

Now, Charlie needling the situation after the fact did not help but the damage had already been done...

We did the Waterfest the last couple years, .. This year I gave the event to a ski show.. Maybe next year we'll give it a shot again.

I have never had the pleasure or opportunity to meet pete but I have heard nothing but good! I have seen his vid's and his talent that way. I like the go for it attitude and truthfully none of this blowup on the X will change my opinion of him. Hell I hope he show's up to this thing because me and Tanner are having a hard time affording it also but lol I am a spectator. Pete has alot on his mind pregnant wife ect. ect. I have 2 kid's 17 and 18 haha I know stress. it's all good Not the best keyboard guy on the X but Pete is gonna be fine. good luck dude

Yeah, Charlie is a smartass, and likes to antagonize...I have gone a few rounds with him myself in the past...hell, I remember when he used to get banned off of the Riot boards...you had to work real hard to get booted from there...REAL HARD lol...

But alot of the time when you can get past his ass-hattery (man, I have waited a long time to use that word lol) he has a valid point to make...much like Pete tends to blow up under critisism SFL gets wrapped up in his hattery and dilutes his own point.

To be clear I am not picking sides in this debate, personally I feel that Pete reacted way too strongly but everyone who descended into the discussion could have laid off as well, which they did not. Thus both sides are in the wrong here.

I think of the X as a shark tank...once the smelll of blood hits the water no one can control themselves and it turns into this frenzy of useless posts that do nothing but add more blood to the water, and soon its a murky mess and no one knows who is bleeding and who isn't...its sad really.

X was started under the best of intentions...we all need to ask ourselves if we are contributing or being detrimental to those intentions. Some care, some don't, its the nature of things.

I will say this, in our travels we have run across far more poeple who have told us that they steer clear of this site because of things like this than those who embrace it for what it could be and look beyond the useless stuff. That kind of invalidates every good intention the site owners had when first starting the X...mainly to help promote and grow the sport (or hobby, however you want to catagorize it) of freeride...food for thought.

I wish that I still had the same drive and desire for this site that I had when it started. But I dont. This kind of crap has just sucked it out of me. The utter lack of respect given towards others makes me want to puke. People come on and say you have to earn respect. I say bull chit. If you are respectful each other then everything is good. You can be respectful to someone you do not respect. Being respectful is an action, not an opinion.

Certain members come on and say that they are never part of drama, yet when they mention certain threads you go look and that person is in the middle of it calling someone a queer or goat herder or whatever. I call that a hypocrite.

I have met some great people. Helped out a few along the way where I could. Others have helped me out along the way. That is what the sites were originally all about.

In 7 hours I have to take on of the most important exams of my life and I am on here. Why??? I have no freaking idea.

This was the point of the thread I posted. This site could be soooo kickass!! We could have twice as many people on here, and we could have all the pros on here, but when they see this constant criticizing and lame gradeschool crap, they stay far far far away.

I doubt Pete will come back....he has good sponsors, and in order to protect that, he will probably leave for good.

People say it's just the internet, but for pro riders, it is the entire community and for some, it is their livlihood.

Because it upsets you Harrison, and that is more than understandable. You came on at this hour in the midst of your studies because it matters to you, just as it does to many others. To those individuals whom do care, each probably shows it in different ways…sometimes we are right, sometimes we are wrong sadly. Hopefully we learn before it falls apart and the efforts are wasted.
