1105's are all spoken for. There are some 964's still available. Erik was able to work some kinks out with the foundry......it's been a roller coaster, we know, but things will definitely start to smooth out now. Production will definitely pick up now that parts are flowing the way they should. Just need to work through the back log.

Another batch of 1105's is in the works.

We'll start a new thread as suggested above soon.

The first production run 1105 cylinders were delivered to TPE earlier this week and are now on their way to get Nikasil. The foundry has new owners so we went through a bit of a delay in ironing out details/scheduling etc. We are now in full production and expect our processing/build times to speed up dramatically with the adjustments that were made during production and techniques learned at the shop for build up.

New thread with better info coming soon.

I guess I will post an official review of the 1105.

I now own the prototype 1105, and my long drawn out review will explain how I got the first one...

I was asked to demo that motor in my personal hull before I even had a chance to ride it. I was running a dasa 10mm 970 at the time and had nothing to lose. After talking with Erik several times annd learning more about what went into this engine my mind was made up. I made the 5 hour drive to drop my ski off with Erik and have it shipped out to Havasu with a brand spankin new (to me and the world) engine . Before we left I got to try the 1105 in a kdx. I will admit I was not very comfortable with the ride of that hull, im used to stability and predictability but ill stop making excuses for myself. I tried a slide flip and lost the ski. Straight up in the sky without me. I didnt have the hand strength to hold on to it. That is my short review.

Now for the comparisons. My dasa had nothing on it. 130ccs smaller, it felt 800ccs smaller that day. But in that comparison we are comparing 10mm to 10mm. Not displacement. So the only other boat I rode this summer with anything close was a kdx with a 16mm 1100. The dasa had a very nice initial hit but then it left me wanting more -like you feel 20 min after leaving the chinese buffet. The tpe felt like it was still pulling after the boat left the water. To make a real comprison I would need to test back to back with a 1200 from the competition.

If I had to chose based on performance not price or brand recognition or because I drank some kool aid that swayed my decision I would pick the tpe hands down. I learned a lot talking with Erik about how this works. There are a lot of things that can be put into a cast cylinder that just cant be accomplished with a cnc. There is a lot of ingenuity in this engine, both transfer port layout, angle, shape, powervalve design, and most importantly the cast cylinder with nikasil. You can afford to ingest some water and not worry about trashing the bore, the cast dissipates heat better and the list goes on. I am not a commissioned sales person for tpe. Just someone who was truly impressed.

Now to answer a question that im sure is coming. Why didnt the 1105 show its face at Havasu? It only left the house a few times and we chased a really simple and stupid total loss issue all week. I was with 3 engineers all week and none of us could put our finger on my rookie wiring mistake.. yes I'm taking blame for it. I was really bummed monday at body beach that this new game changing motor wasnt there getting the attention we all wanted it to get. ( Me mainly because having the only one in existance at the time would have tripled my hulls exposure at world finals)

Well Daytona is coming and I put all my faith in Erik and his master tuner - this will be my redemption from world finals.

Should be a couple setups available all weekend. I doubt the flat water setup will be in the surf so expect to see that on Sunday. Todd should have a 10mil on the beach along with a few other 964's that should be scooting around too.

I will list my review here. I had the distinct pleasure to build Brians original 970 and he had that thing dialed in after spending all summer tuning for the Lake Erie Freeride. He was nice enough to tell me to go ride it in the surf on thursday. That ski imo was perfect, flat water BF worthy, and a monster that could hurt you in the surf. 148 maxx, epic, 49s etc. See the ride photos in Pro Rider and other mags for flat water shots.
I am no total loss guru as everyone on the east coast knows at this point, as my KDX 1100 16mm is proof of. I spent most of the fall tuning it and finally got it fixed and running perfectly 3 weeks ago. She finally hits and pulls and keeps pulling. I had it rip from my hands on a roll a few weeks back. Nothing like a rag doll barrel roll :)
At WF Brian and Erik let me try the Brawler, which I know pretty well now, and the 1105 TPE, TL, 148 Maxx, 48s, etc. I know my limitations, and as most of you know Im not a full FW rider. I learned in the surf, so the change over for me started this summer. Considering I spent the entire summer wrenching and not riding, my skill set has not improved, and if anything regressed from lest year.
The TPE 1105 had about 3 minutes idling around by Josh when it was handed to me. I eagly donned my life jacket and took her for a rip. Immediately I could notice a complete difference. This motor was untuned and I wanted to make sure it was warm and not lean before breaking someones equipment that was shipped across the country. All was pretty close so I decided to get into it a bit. Up top it was too much for me, so i decided that I needed to acclimate myself to the power band before executing any tricks. LOL The motor was insane power to the point that I immediately brought it in to have Erik try it out to tell me if it was normal to him. Erik took it out, was about 50 ft from the beach when the TL took a dump for the balance of the trip. At least I didnt break it :)
This thing left me wanting more. I know after some of the skis I have ridden, that 2014 is going to be a TPE year for sure. I need to spend about 20 mins on this in familiar surrounding to offer a complete feedback, but the 5 mins I had on it, id say start saving your Christmas cards, allowance, bonus, recycled cans, etc because for a 10mm this could be a contender
