im going to go with the nuts and bolts. no matter what rivets will work their way loose over time. just spend the money you would use on buying the gun and the rivets and buy the ss hardware.

If the pole is prepped well, the mechanical fasteners are only used to keep things aligned until the adhesive cures. If you can get the inside of the lower cast piece down to bare metal before assembly, you will never break the bond if a high quality adhesive is used. I've always used thickened epoxy, but plexus or a good panel adhesive would work fine. The reason the stock ones let go is that Yamaha paints/primes the cast piece before the pole is bonded together. Whenever the bond fails, it's because the paint has let go of the aluminum. Hope that helps!:smile:
