thanks!nice gas tank mounting! beautiful work, everything is so clean and tidy. I noticed your fuel filters, i've had troubles with those flowing enough fuel with the big motors.
Just came back from the water test. well, the motor is absolutly sick and just kept spinning the prop. No choice now but to step up a a mag pump:biggrin:
time for a 144 mag:woot:

Interesting!... I'll replace them and see if there is any difference.

I think the sintered bronze filters are the ones that might actually have problems keeping up, as Tom mentioned. The ones in Steve's boat actually flow more than the ones you linked to. It's the same filter media type used in the Mikuni internal carb filters. Yours show 7.6 gallons/hour and the ones in Steve's boat show 8.9 gallons/hour. They also don't have any paper fibers that show up later in your internal carb filters like the paper elements seem to always do. Good quality filters! I buy them by the card at the local motorcycle shop.

Steve, Do you have a TBM pump stuffer in the stock pump?
If you don't have one, do that first...
You think that the TBM stuffer will keep the prop from spinning like crazy? I am currently using a 12/17 big hub skat track prop. I was also going to try a 10/17 hooker prop but I think the result will be the same.
Yes, get rid of those plastic screen filters and use some big powersports paper hi-flow ones...
I'm not a big fan of the paper elements. I have seen them come apart over a period of time. Maybe I'll just stick to the OEM yamahas

I don't use these filters but once a season on my 1000's, then replace with new ones so I've never had a problem, I've personally have used over 200 in the last 6 years. (I only broke a couple by making the lines to tight and bent the ends)
I know some of my customers have come back in for service 2-3 years later and still running these filters and no problems at all. I don't think that this company that makes these ones have the problems your speaking of them coming apart... so it's your call.
Yes, use the TBM 1st, and go bigger with the prop...Scat-Trak 14-19 -3 big hub should help you get in the ballpark. I run bigger than that on my 8mm strokers and no problems with the TBM. Start with the medium cone as they come with 3 cones! This way you can tune either way.
Are you running a bored out nozzle?
Now if cost is no problem...order a new billet mag pump Monday as you won't beat the performace that a Skat-Trak Magnum pump gives you!
