any one have one of these for transporting?

ive done that everytime at the lake. usually go to couple inches above the water when dropping it in and it hits the nose EVERY time  get it back in the same way!
BRAAP!

it got "high" tech with my truck bed. ive got a board that fits between the wheel wells w/ pvc for rails to hold the ski. eye bolts w/ a cable from the rear hooks in the bed (lets board hang off tailgate w/o falling off). get the ski on to the board use an eye bolt through the bow eye and hook a come-a-long to the back of the bed and crank er in!! tail gate sit in the water BTW. i ride by myself and the launches are steep.needless to say, when the tailgate is in the water and the nose is sitting on the edge of the gate and im at the back of the ski, i cant touch the ramp to be able to shove the ski up (see sig) opps,im only 5'3!!!!:rolleyes:no sig, other site

Just mount 2X4's on the sides of the walk board and strap the ski on that. I used the same thing a few years back. I mounted the ski backwards so that the majority of the weight would be near the axel plus the standup can be slid farther back. The nose will ride under the side of the couches.

Here is a picture but not a good close up picture

Thats exactly how I want to set up my trailer.. How did you mount the 2x4's?? I Was just gonna weld some tubing in, then use the mounting hardware from shorelander, to mount the bunks to just like the other 2 skis are on now.

I'm confused how your setup works. Can you elaborate or do you have a picture?

I went hitech and used wood screws. I just screwed the wood to the sides and wraped the tiestraps around the walk baord. I didn't even use the 2X4's the first few times I just let the intake grate sit on the walkboard.

harbor freight has this one rated for 500 lbs for 40 bucks and i have a 15% off coupon.

sides don't look too sturdy but hard to tell from a pic.

Hey when I bought your 550, I ended up buying a cheap one from Pep Boys.

BTW, hope you build your SN better then you redid the exhaust on that 550 you sold me. ugh... :banghead:

I am considering having this built to solve my towing needs. This will eliminate my need to reconfig my single trailer and prevent me from having to leave a ski unattended at any boat ramp.

The rack will consist of 2x2x1/4 black powder coated STL tongue and naked 2x2 AL angle. The aluminum will be bolted to the steel tongue via 2x2 ribs in the center and stainless hardware. Standard 2x4 bunks will be bolted to the inside of the angle to hold the ski. Total weight of this rig is approximately 30lbs.

Anyone that might be interested in purchasing a rack like this let me know. I may consider making more than one and be able to keep cost down a little. Not a super cheap setup but definitely quality.

Thoughts?

thats my truck and ramp setup on my ranger. Thats messed up, i didn't post that on youtube. It worked pretty well though and thats off of dry ground.
