Anyone do crossfit? *video added*

I think so too!!!

Went for my first of three one on one sessions yesterday....still not a "real" workout...but showing us correct form...all their exercises...all that jazz. I found out my lower back is "weak" :skull2: and that squat therapy is the devil!!! I have also never lifted weights before so all of these jerks and stuff like that are scary to me...haha. I will get them eventually.

The afternoon class was going on as well and it made me feel better to see some old farts and some big girls in there.

We should be able to hit up our first big workout this Saturday. I am excited!! :bananapowerslide:

Joel.....have you done the paleo diet?

Really? Ummmm, I'm like 140 soaking wet on a good day...without a morning grumpy. Diet doesn't exist in my vocabulary. :scratchchin: No I haven't done the paleo but it looks interesting....and I am a meat eater. I have been quite lazy for the past year or so when it comes to fitness. Once I get over a couple of humps in life right now I'll get back in it.

well it isn't just for losing weight....my crossfit guy said you can tell a huge difference in people that just crossfit and people that are paleo and crossfit...and then an even bigger difference in people that Zone and crossfit.

It fuels your body :cheer:

Yeah, I was just referring to my current status....can't afford to skip or skimp on meals and am so not active, not like I was. I've seen and heard of Paleo before, never really looked into it. Seems to me, with minimal looking, like a detox/clean diet. What is Zone?

I never did CF with a trainer, well...I never paid for it. We had access to extensive equipment and did the WODs on our own. I had intentions on doing a Certification seminar but got derailed then lost motivation...for anything.

You use the 40:30:30 method: 40% carbs 30% Proteins and 30% fats.

If you can get into it...it is actually a way of eating that you can sustain for a long time. I have been reading of people doing it for 5-10 yrs.
I hear it can take a little while to get used to it.....and all the measuring.

So you want to have a nice cold frothy Guinnness? Well that will take up your carb block for dinner...BUT you can still have it.

I am hoping to get over into the zone after a few months....still reading up on it now.

Hmmm, is that to be adhered to without supplements? 30% protein is a little low for me, but I guess it depends on levels of activity too.

They do sell supplements on the main website so they are apparently not an issue. I do know that the more active you are the more "blocks" you are able to consume.

This makes it a little easier to understand portions

A big problem with zone is that is it is hard to understand at first....I am reading that a lot of folks didn't like the hassle and move back to paleo.

So far the only problem I am having with paleo is knocking out the dang sweets. I am killing some fruit and veggies though :bananapowerslide:

I had a coworker tell me this morning that 1. crossfit sounds stupid and completely against what he has ever learned about working out and 2. that paleo is not worth it ....that I should just eat anything I want in "moderation". Well if I could eat everything "in moderation" I wouldn't be worrying about a "diet" or change of lifestyle would I?? Dufus.

This comes from a guy who just lost 40 lbs by living off of soup and salads :skull2:

I'll check it out, thanks! What would I do without sweets....and Mountain Dew?! I'd love to argue some points about CF with your coworker. CF is a different type of regime and is designed to work your anaerobic energy vs aerobic. Soup and salad, yuck!!! No thanks, I'm a meat eater.

When do you get smoked again???

Mountain Dew?? Don't get me started!!! You do like your teeth right? :popworm:

Yeah..the coworker is a douche bag....a MALE administrative assistant...haha!! :loser:

Last night was night 2 of the intro stuff.....learned dead lifts (with a medicine ball first) so LOTS and LOTS of squats. My legs are a little sore today!

We finish up our intro stuff tomorrow morning and our first throw down workout is Monday. :scared: I will say they have me sweating like I have never sweated before!! haha I was soaked last night after 35 min or so of just "practice".

Day 4 of paleo and it actually isn't that bad....although we are having birthday cake at the office today and I have to smell it...but I will NOT be touching any of it! I do feel MUCH better....no more "junk" in my system. :headbang: and yeah.....I must have meat to survive!!!!!

I talked to my trainer last night about going Zone. I am doing Zone after 30 days of this cave woman stuff. I guess when the time comes they have lots of info to give out but I am still going to study up on it beforehand.
