It seems silly to me to weld a beach cart to a 4-wheeler. If you're going to go through that much trouble, why not just weld a hitch to the ATV and tow it? A hitch will keep the ATV dry, you can still use it as an ATV, and you have less weight to move (ski and cart motor seperately) if the ATV isn't working.

you are not allowed to ride an atv on most beaches

im not sure why they did it that way on the goldcoast, maybe they have sim laws,Id be worried with the quad conver cart that they would say motor veh period cart or not?

the only freewheeling sprocket I can think of is a bicycle of some kind and that ''may'' ? work but the chain looks weak to me ? . as far as mph ..... you must have your motor first in hand so you have a base rpm that you have to stay with due to voltage requirements . then you must decide on a tire size that you have avaiable to you economically, then you can figure the (''ft travled .per rpm of the tires) and then figure the rpm needed to the axle and choose appropiate gearing ................................. an alternative to the freewheeling sproket idea is the freewheeling drum of the winch that requires you to pull a knob already on the winch and then it freewheels , If you have the skills you can hook that up to a controll cable and a mt bike brake lever

That is what I would use if I was embarking on this project. Parts are cheap and you could set it up with a rear derailer and multiple gears. With an electric motor it will either be painfully slow or not have enough torque to make it up a decent grade unless you can switch gears or control motor speed. A big guy with bike could be well over 275# gvw and chains breaking is not a very common problem. I think it would be plenty strong and just in case you could have a spare link or two and a chain tool on board. That's a two minute repair if you know what you're doing.

yea it is,but a derailer would likly be a pita on a cart in the sand, the dewalt drill is a 3 speed,I would think that would be enough to choose from

you guys should check out cruizin coolers this way you could at least bring some beers for when you get tired .
but in actually i am having the same problemn this weekt and again in august . i am with a client and the only place to launch is in the beach over a nocked down dune with soft sand for nearly 100m . when we are done we are like no way this is ridiculus .
so i have done some searching and there is some stuff out there that could be fabbed up out of existing stuff but it will end up running around 1-2k
i have order an electric trailer mover this way i can hook up to the original beach cart and disconnect it before entering the water it will be slow but i only need it for one ski as it only goes about 2-3 mph
the other option seems doable with some for gas powered is a 200cc rototiller with either just the blades converted to wheels or one with wheels and have the blades converted to wheels as well and make a hook up attachment to beach cart . this would be the faster moving one .
if it works out i will sell mine at the end of august it cost me around $900 with tractor type tires with a ball hitch type

also haulzall makes an elctric cart the could be converted to a beach cart type of device for $1200 electric and troy built makes a gas version like a dump wagon that could be removed and add bunk rails to it $1350

Brian here are some links to these options, Ive been thinking on going the ryobi expand it route,I have a clearance outlet that sells them dirt cheap here, the challange is the cable drive and the long pole attachment,it would be diff to shorten it and attach it so that the ski would fit on top the cart. but this would be a cheap method with some alum welding and fading.

this drive motor and battery can be bought seperate and would work good for a rolleze cart or bigfoot cart and adding one or 2 more larger wheels in the middle http://www.powermoverinc.net/htmls/pmdcmovers.html

or this tire with the haulzall drive sytem, little slow and expensive though,3 mph is tough 5 would be betterttp://www.haulzall.com/product-p/10987.htm

So whats happening here in the ''advanced design dept'' of the ''tote division '' any progress yet ? BTW I have changed some dimensions on mine to help the self loading aspect of it ,and I smoked a $80 ski battery due to overcharging overnight '' ouch'' so Im back to 80% complete .... however power /gearing /speed /self loading off the ground ,strength ,and reliability have been wooped so far . we need to have a THROWDOWN of powered dollys at Daytona LOL, ...get busy
