If someone makes a aluminum tank that works with a battery like the ext9, let me know I would want one too. Hopefully lower our costs with 2.

What pipe do you have? I've been toying with the idea of making one for my Chan. I'd get a better idea of a price after building my own.

My criteria for a tank are as follows .... 4 gal minimum , and has to be removable by just removing 4 straps. I order to accomplish that it will need to have a real abstract shape ( I have done some cubic inch conversions). Aluminum could be done but would be expensive , composite would be the least expensive and be easer to conform to the odd shape.

There is one more ..... Thermo forming HDPE plastic. Do a search on you tube . I have a commercial plastic wielder and have wielded a ton of hdpe in years past. The price of material would be about 85 bucks. The biggest problem is a vac that can pull 29" hg.

More on this later

What about stainless. 18 or 20 ga. 304 or 430. I operate a CNC press brake and have been talking about this for a while with a buddy. There is a CNC turret behind my machine that could cut almost any pattern, and I could bend it to whatever. I cold then have it professionally tig welded and dye tested for leaks.

Would there be a market for this and if so what would people pay for a custom tank to their specs? Or perhaps a universal design? My biggest concern was most want aluminum but i don't think a stainless tank would weigh very much more?

Here we go. The next hull specific niche market product by sportfish.

Wellllll....... Thank you mister helpers. Looks like you boys want to go sportfishing .... Set your drag and Watch me shake yo hook .... You won't land this one.

Time for the rebuttal .

Pablo ..... Inlet riding requires more fuel than riding shore break with the travel involved. With 4 gallons in the tank I generally come in with about 3 fingers in the tank . Throw in a goose chase around the jetty or a creek run and your cutting it close ..... If you rode with us EVER you would know. Ask the dog how a two gallon tank worked for him.

As for you pro south .... I'll graciously take your advise with ALL your experience ..... I mean the ONE time you have been out ..... Well almost out...... If I recall your skis don't need fuel at all . Next time you ride with us maybe you should bring a paddle ..... Or take up shell collecting .

Now back to our regularly scheduled broadcast.....

Question .... Is the 550 tank Easley removed with out a bunch of hassle ?

my surf ski may not have been up to par, but I assure you I was on the water more than you, even with a broken foot in the middle of the summer. Now, on to your question. I ain't got a clue, but if it was easy you'd find a way to make it hard.

I guaran-dang-tee that tank comes out without too much of a hassle. Much less hassle than fabbing one up from scratch, but do ur thing macguyver. I understand the fuel issues. Can't be worried about that when its a 10" cruise to get back to base camp. I liked ur idea of a foam plug to shape for a mold.

If u boys would ever ride that surf when its reasonably warm I would consider it. There's not a chance that I'll ride when it's cold...EVER. Mid-late October (water temp > 68*) is my max.

Lol and lol. Nothing better than busting on your buds. "If you rode with us EVER"......still chuckling.

That's the best part of this site .... Aside from the occasional useful post.

Do I make things complicated or I'm I just thorough . I HATE doing things twice .....
