cool. I will be ditching the stock Acorn top shape and going round like a roundnose pole. Where did you shorten yours? I will most likely just be doing all the shortening in the turn plate and straight bars.

4deg bars, quick turn plate and the it was sectioned to the bond line and shortened 2" about 6" up from the pivot mount. seemed the 2 sections with a 2" srtip of aluminmum and rivets then glassed over and paint prepped

Interesting. From what Ive mocked up I'll be able to shorten mine almost 4" just by changing up the steering plate and using straight bars, So I'm choosing not to cut the pole in half.

A large order from US composites should be here any minute now.... =]

Since orangefinder threw his hat into the ring ,I am throwing mine in as well,I dare say my ski will not only compete with yours it will dominate, can you say Lighter ,stronger, faster, say it really fast three times.

Daft punk can say it three times fast.

However that is a bold statement sir. What are you doing besides a total hull splash and remold to make it lighter? And youve probably spent quite a bit more than double my budget on this. However...

With your permition I will be happy to post some pics ? Will have them in by tomorrow...

We are in the early stages and I would say its more show-style rebuilt which intention was to keep original features of the ski ...the engine will be 650Sx and the pumpsection will be no anywhere close to compete to your rebuilt...Pole AC 550 Pole, changed dual front exhaust system, most of the work went into Hood, Footholds, Handlepole braket

Your rebuilt is so far the best thing I have seen on pump conversions that make sense !! I wish I would have adopted that earlier in the game.

I am happy that these skis are still finding so much attention and especially adopting such great new ideas:bananajump:

Orange. Go to town man. You should find jetski havens 440 build. That thing is Cherry! Not to mention a 850 pjs motor in it.

WFO. That dont count. Thunderjets are ugly, look like 750sx's, and are big. :Flush:

Oh :):):):)! That nose is HOT! I wanna see some pictures on how you molded that piece.

Heres what I did today. I am incredibly tired... I stayed up, well I never actually went to sleep.... but I was doing final exam papers till 7 am this morning. Hurraaa..

Anyway I got the pole cleaned and foamed up, and started sanding away. Got somewhat close to the shape I wanted.... I guess I had some parts of the foam mixed bad because there were a couple soft mushy sections that never hardened. Naturally they were right where the bends in the pole were. Made that much easier for me... not Anyway, I used 1 layer of mat, 1 layer 17oz biax, and 1 layer of carbon. This is my first time working with carbon so who knows what its gonna look like... its also a much thicker and more structural carbon, not that thin black grey i see on most skis..... I think its 12oz.

And lastly this is my cheap vacuum bag, heh. Not quite the same but it gets the job done.

Now off to go grind the bulk head flat, and graft in the new bulkhead and bearing block

Thats a sick 550! If you need any stock js550 panels to graft onto your ski let me know. I have a couple that have been cut into that I don't mind removing more parts from it.

Thanks man. I actually have everything I need body panel wise.

Right now I'm searching for a good motor to put in it. I have a 650 I ported but I just dont think its gonna give me the hit that I'm looking for.

I also need a 650 exhaust, flat brapp said he might have one but hasn't got back to me yet. Also I think I'm gonna need some new electronics.

I finished the bulkhead tonight, and since the bulkhead is in everything can be foamed and sealed up. The driveshaft lines up perfectly and all is well in the world.

The pole kinda turned out lumpy due to sections of foam that deflated for some reason... I'm not happy with it, but whatever, its 3" lower than stock, and pretty flush. I lay a real thick layer of resin over it tomorrow and level it out.
