No official 550 backflip has ever been done.

Finished everything up and have it sanded. I didnt have the energy to do the last layer of kevlar on the bottom though. I think it will only be a single racing stripe instead of the entire bottom though.

The handlepole looks like crap. I'm not happy with it, I will be doing something else instead.

Now for a final layer of a gel coat, I need an x2 steering cable or some type of trim cable that use's Kawi style sealing caps, as well as a throttle cable. Ski will be finished this weekend.

Meh? Everything is cleaned up on the bottom around the pump, the rest of the bottom deck is just needing a good sand before paint. The conversion coupler should be here tomorrow... just in time for a huge storm. Great....

I dont know anyone in orlando area that has a sj limited chamber for me to mock up.... =[

So whats the vote? SJ limited chamber? Or a hybrid pipe using a FPP 650k half chamber and a cut mariner chamber to make an overall chamber 5" in diameter, much longer than a limited pipe, with a less steep stinger angle section?

Shorten the mid shaft and move that engine closer to the bulk head, you might have some room for a blaster mod pipe in there if you move the gas tank forward.

I used a modified 550 bedplate. Im hoping to find a nice OP plate or the older magnesium style plates before long.

As for sliding the motor back, I cannot or I lose any place to put the battery rear of the motor. Its already touching the battery as is. And I cannot put the battery in front because I need to slide the gas tank all the way to one side to make a chamber fit.

The problem with the blaster chamber is not actual fitment. I can make it fit. But theres no way I can get an exhaust hose to route the way it needs to. I was thinking about cutting the outlet off and rewelding it somewhere else but It would have to be about 1/3 into the chamber at a different angle as opposed to 2/3rds into the chamber as is. I'm sure that drastically effects the way a center-bleed chamber works however....?

Well the pump and rear of the hull is completely done. Did my last bit of sanding today, everything is clean and flush, Chines are trued. Unfortunately the PTO coupler did not arrive in the mail, so I went crazy.

Im sure I'll get blasted by some of you guys for doing this, but this was my little project for the night. Borrowin a couple more parts from Mr. Superjet.... :439: I am like Indian, I use everything from my Deer. Ps, I will never use Kevlar again.

On a side note I am quite surprised to find out this thread has 1300 views. I didnt realized I check it that often... LoL

Cleaned everything up, knocked the stock front exhaust out to make room for the tubbies and filled it in with 17oz biax.

These are SurfJet Louies tubbies for the square nose. They fit my 550 better than the SN hull. Used 4 bolts to hold them in, but because of :):):):)ty weather I have not glassed them in yet. I put them about 3/4" front the bottom, and matched the most aggressive/leading edge of the chine with the most aggressive/leading edge part of the hull.

Ugghh Where will it end!?!

This really makes the narrow 550 hull tear drop shaped. Perhaps this will emulate a narrowed dovetail hull and let the rear end really sink in on carves and let that pump hook up. These things are thick, almost 2" per side!

Well I mounted them so the deepest edge of the chine would match the position and angle of the most leading cutting chine edge on the hull. It also happened that this was the farthest back i could mount them, while being forward of the bulkhead.

When I mounted them on my superjet I made the mistake of pretty much mounting them flush, on the much wider SJ hull, these rode on the surface of the water and made it chine walk like CRAZY. So this time around I mounted them about 3/4" above the hull lip. However when I ride Lasermans 550 with tubbies (his are flush) it does not chine walk because the rear of the hull is very narrow and digs in further.... but I think with my extra wieght of 701 and the extra power the front will plow a bit more than a normal 550.
