Perhaps, but 650 strakes are deeper than a 550, and the skis are heavy enough and dont have a wash out problem, they track pretty dead on to begin with. Riding my ski is serously a balance workout in anything more than glass.

Heres what I had to make to have a waterbox fit.

Im kinda surprised to see people reading this thread still though... LoL.

I have 2 outlets on the head, one is a pisser, the other goes into 100% through the headpipe then into the stinger. The box stays filled up pretty good, but I guess i could add another right at the outlet....

On a side note, Does anyone have a 750sx torpedo tube in good condition cut out from a foothold installation? That or a superjet rear exhaust outlet flange?

Well.. finished sanding and glassing. 4-5 layers of this new 2x2 twill 8.5 oz industrial glass. Great stuff.

I find it amazing how even 5 layers looks almost crystal clear... makes me feel like its not enough.... Silly.

Getting close now. I can almost smell the carbon....

Well, the thread has been rather entertaining you must admit, lol.

That waterbox looks even smaller than the last one!

So its done for now. I'll do the engine bay next week perhaps. But I'm all glassed out for now.

I put down the final layer of 8.5oz twill before unwrapping and laying out the carbon... I didnt realize how thick the carbon was.... the 8.5oz layer was a joke comparatively. Oh well.

Well I'd certainly hope not because the engine bay is getting similar treatment next week. SMC sandwiched between 2 layers of that carbon should be tough shiv.

Well I tried it out yesterday

AWESOME. I am 110% happy with the improvements, they worked exactly as I had hoped for. The deeper strakes help keep the ski tracking dead on straight. Tracking doesnt get washed out above 45mph now... It also powerslides just as easy though... Big bonus. I was afraid that it would stick to aggressive, however it still lets loose.

The tubbies are awesome as well. I mounted them high, and I get absolutely no chine walk. Unlike the heavier superjet, you can actually feel the tubbies resisting submersion on turns. You really have to crank it to dip them in as they are very boyant. But it definately hooks now. Both the rear and the front are evenly matched.

Well the deep strakes would keep the rear in line and not want to slide out, and the tubbies keep the front from understeering and pushing out through the turn. I did not want to make the strakes deep enough to ride like an SXR, and I didnt want the tubbies low enough to make it ride like my last boat, I wanted them OUT of the water when on a plane.

Luckily the way everything is set up, the strakes keep the boat tracking dead on and dont let the rear slide out in the turns unless I crack on the power and lean out of it. The tubbies also push the boat upright out of the turns as well.

Before the boat was Incredibly unpredictable. When on the throttle the hull would not hold to the water at all, the front or rear would go in either and opposite directions at the slightest whim.

Do'H, you just reminded me that I have to replace my bilge switch tonight so I can ski tomorrow..... I hate fishing things down the tiny 550 handle pole tube.

Yea I will eventually make one. I need to cut up a set of bedplates so I have someplace to mount it too... The larger yamaha style couplers really fling water since its lower to the floor than it is in a superjet. So just a bit of water and it gets flung right into the rear cylinder.
