Billet Kawi Porn

What are the limiting factors in the stroke on a Kawi. On the Yamaha twins it used to be 5mm, 6mm, 8mm and now years later we are hearing 10mm,12mm, 16mm ect.. Is it possable to skip a few years worth of waiting and go right to the big chit or is there not room in the OEM cases for this kind of stroke, or is it a demand for a differant rod, ect ect.

The Kawi stock case will only accept a +4MM stroke.

A stock filled Yami case will only accept a +12MM(80 MM), but that is pretty far out there.

You are able to skip years worth of waiting and buy a billet Yami case right now. You can run whatever stroke you want, right now the biggest crank we have put in it is a 16MM. At this time I make a GP case for 8-10-12MM and 16MM strokes.

As far as a Kawi goes, more interest needs to be generated, or people need to step up with orders, to warrant the expense to build it. It will happen.

Crankworks is now building their own rods, so there are no more limitations as far as that goes.

We are pretty much full steam ahead.

DB,

Thanks for the heads up, I am not sure where it was being discussed, but it has been brought up a few of times.

That pipe you put the link up for has nothing to do with what we are talking about, which is the head pipe "supposedly" breaking due to the mod being done to the Factory B pipe to clear the DASA PV's.

Not to mention, it is an SXR Kawi pipe, not a Yami pipe.

Most anything will fail due to lack of maintainance.

Brian

Here is a broken head pipe. Looks like the one I saw in person. Not sure if we were talking about this on this thread or the billet yamaha cases thread.

I know. I would say these break because they got loose and vibrated. But it makes the second or third pipe I have seen break. That is all I was saying before.

I have seen head pipes modified for use with gas valves. I just wish someoen would cast a new head pipe that overcomes having to cut and weld on them.

I would agree that is exactly what happened. Regardless, anything neglected won't last and will fail.

Not enough money in pipes anymore to recouperate the cost of tooling.

Don't be scared of a a little choppy-choppy.
