They are trick, but since you post about it in my thread I will have to say in my opinion a non adjustable PV is a bad idea.
I didn't know they weren't adjustable.

Brian, I saw a rec boat with a broken head pipe. But my friend bought it used so it probably could have been from being loose and ridden that way.
Didn't TS/XM sell some exhaust spacers that allowed the head pipe to clear the power valves. If the Head pipe still clears the side of the hull that would be my best suggestion.
how difficult would it be to machine some billet pv's that are adjustable?
What exactly do you mean?
We already machine some billet PV's that are adjustable
Brian
oh ok, didn't know that either...lol
so why aren't the x-metal one adjustable, just a protoype or something?

If you have seen pictures of our cylinder,
The red or blue peice in the black cap screws in and out and has a detent to maintain the setting. Screwing them in or out allows to increase or decrease spring pressure to change the rate and timing of the opening of the valve.
Make sense?
Brian
I know how to adjust them, I was just wondering why x-metal didn't make them adjustable. it seems like since they went to the trouble to make them, they would.

that's kinda like gold-plating a turd, and then using it for a hood ornament.
I wouldn't be that harsh.
I wasn't trying to be, but it seems like a prototype situation to me. I understand the reason for wanting pipe clearance, but as intricate as those guys get with dialing in their setups, it's seems like defeating the purpose.
I am sure as well that they designed the length of the valve to set the spring tension where they thought worked best.

Brian,
The pipe wasn't a cut one. Just a B Pipe on a Blaster.
On the 750 SX mod pipe, the ex manifold is rotated some to make the pipe fit right. I wonder how that would fit with PV's.
As far as polishing turds, Mythbusters already did that.
im pretty sure you can tune the PV's on an Xmetal motor..but you do it through spring changes
