anybody know if there is a clearance problem on the PV's with the factory drypipe? I don't have my ski at work to go look at.
I was told that the dry pipe will fit with the power valves, with a different pipe bracket supplied by DASA.

Available manifolds start at 44mm-id, that's why there is a conversion plate to use the Yami manifold(area equal to 48mm-id)
Ported stock kawi cylinders have the actual exhaust port area close on being equal to a 47mm-id pipe. Cylinders can be ported out to the 46mm range at the flange with no sealing issues.
Why do you think the 66E has a 50mm id? Not for it being a nice round number. 66E also has big reedvalves, also not there for show. Pity that motor is so heavy.
It becomes a matter of getting air in and out of the motors, exhausts and reedvalves are becoming the main restrictors on big cc motors(900cc+), you will have awesome bottom-end but not all the top-end you could have by using the currently available stuff.
o.k,thank's for the input, sounds like i gotta lose the wet pipe and go dry hmmm,i do have a nice yammi dry+manifold under the bench(type9)can i use this with the adapter plate, will the kawi chamber fit the yamaha flat draft mani!

To pick or build the right dry pipe, you need the exh port timing, exh port size, BMEP of motor(will help to know what the exh temp could get to) and what rpm motor is ported for. Most dry pipes are for very high rpm, so not ideal, the conversion plate helps lengthen the header for more low-end torque and drop peak rpms of pipe a bit

The dry pipe has been known to crack....alot.

If you really want big power out of your Kawi SXR....go with a lightened hull. It made my ski SOOOOOOOOO MUCH faster. I can't wait to actually tune it in on a flat day!!

Sorry, haven't read the whole thread, but does DASA make a non pv top end?

We can and a few have already asked about it.

I can't imagine anyone wants a cylinder with no power valves, but we can certainly make whatever someone wants.

Brian

I am just thinking for in the future....I certainly don't want to run the dry pipe....so if I could run a wet, I would absolutely want the pvs. I have seen so many dry pipes crack that I wouldn't touch one with a 10 ft. pole unless I was just racing it.

dont you have to safety wire the covers on pv lameys?

No sir.

We never used safety wire, we used the seadoo factory wire clip. Same clip we use on our Banshee cylinder.

They clamp on like a rock climber on an outcropping.

But it doesn't matter much anymore, Kyle wanted to me to switch them to the newer bolt-on style last time we ran them. Everyone loves bolt-ons, right?

The original caps from seadoo used the factory wire clip, later ones had the clip provision and also bolt-on style ears, but we never used it(and removed them) since we used the clips.

Bolts are cheaper than the seadoo wire part, are nice and shiny and easier to get.

brian, as soon as I get the funds, I'm dropping one of these things into a 440 hull, w/ a skat 750 pump conversion....lol

exactly!can you run a wet pipe with this cylinder?

The OEM sea doo clips are fine unless you use a B-pipe...they just don't fit too well under the head pipe, that's why you end up using safety wire.
The bolt on caps is a must for a b-pipe set up

X-metal PV's are trick.

They are trick, but since you post about it in my thread, I will have to say in my opinion, a non adjustable PV is a bad idea.

I wish the PV could be made in a lower profile and retain an adjustment. Problem is it we have to make it cost effective to the consumer to be able to produce the components smaller.

I still don't see what all the resistance is to cutting the pipe. I really don't. After it is done, it is done.

The pipe breaking comment? Just how many b pipe motors are out there that have had broken pipes? Seriously. One pro rider in a freestyle boat?
One?
