LOL, I'm just teasing. The only thing I plan on building this year is a sweet azz enclosed trailer for hauling our skis around in. The Matrix is everything I need in a ski and will be for quite some time to come. If Jen really likes the Matrix then there may be a Pro version for me sometime down the road but that will be quite some time down the road now.

Our next big move is to get closer to water so we can ride more. No sense having sweet skis if they sit around more than they get used.

We actually looked at a nice new home in Pooler, GA last weekend.

Boyer, thanks for the test ride sunday. This ski is absolutely amazing. I would have to say this is one of the best hulls I have ever ridden, turns on a dime, planes out of the water very fast, very stable, & amazing brap. Props to trinity, x scream, & boyer for some quality work.

One of the great things about going with a professional builder like Bobby is that all those types of things were covered when the ski was designed so I don't have to worry about it. The ski will maintain adequate boyancy as built and I added nose foam to provide additional boyancy.

Pooler is 2 hrs closer to surf than our current home and slightly closer to my work than the 1.5hr drive I currently enjoy. My residency in this country is based on my job so for the time being I am stuck to them, plus they pay almost double what i would find anywhere else so I'm not so inclined to sever that relationship anytime soon.

We are also looking in Savannah, Ridgeville, Hardeeville...Pooler is tops right now because it's only 5 mins off hwy 95 and has some nice new subdivisions with decent priced homes.

Thanks Lucas, the St. Auggie crew will all get a chance to try it out as Bobby and I are both interested in everybody's impressions. I don't think you guys can hurt it but lets not make that the point of riding it. :biggrin:

lol, I figured as much but still commented because I had a lengthy conversation about that topic with Bobby and figured the details only sell him and his product that much better.

There was a guy at Daytona a couple years ago that busted azz to build up a ski for the event only to have it sink the first day, never to be seen again and I wanted to make sure that wouldn't happen to me.

I thought of sinking it as well but figured that it'll likely happen on it's own soon enough so it's not worth the risk to actually do it intentionally.

Hopefully more and more Matrix's get out there so more people can ride them. Part of me wants to let everybody try it out but at the same time I know It's only a matter of time before somebody breaks something so I have to temper my decisions carefully. Once everyone in our group has had a turn I'll likely restrict who gets to ride it.

Bobby is quick to remind me that anybody can pay for damage done to the ski but the since the hulls are custom it's not like you can just order another and get back on the water in a week or two. If someone was to bust it up on me, I'm out of a ski for 6 months to a year waiting for a replacement or worse yet, running a repaired/compromised hull from that point forward.

From the looks of your riding lately Matt, you may want to invest in an aftermarket hull. To me it wouldn't be the cost of busting hulls but rather the time lost getting another one ready for the water.

When we were weighing my ski up we were commenting that it wasn't that much lighter than an OEM SJ hull but then how much would a SJ weigh after being reinforced enough to be as durable as the Matrix?

i doubt anyone will break it imo. after the vid of the sxr based smashing in the sand doing nothing.....it would take alot. i just chatted with Mardon from OZ and he said not one thing has broke and hes been beating the out of it.

i would restrict people riding it just cuz id pry be too busy ridin it lol!

I rode it for a minute on flat water before heading out to the surf.
It felt great as far as stability, but still had that great twitchyness of a SJ.
Motor is tuned in great and the ski jumps right out of the water.

Thanks Andy, I talked to Chucky on friday and am going to do a bit more tuning next time out. ScottS and I just ordered a couple of ATP EPIC's as well so it will be interesting to see what they do for our SS865's.

I added 5 degrees up up tilt to the trim nozzle too which should help the ski feel a little more loose and fun. Pancake Pete say's the answer is all in the angle.
