Brocks Gulf Tribute Build! **Test Ride\Problems**

The issue I thought of with the exhaust hose is that it will be tough to get it to seal to the waterbox and pipe stinger. Since it is coiled it will be hard to get get a hose clamp to seal it off and exhaust may seep out around the hose coil.

That was my thought too when I was putting it on so I put a ton of rtv sealant on it.

Things are going semi good. engine went in pretty easy, alligned easy. I do have a battery poblem. Dan doesnt know how to tap because 3 of the holes of the metal plate are fine and one hole is too big like the wrong tap was used. My m6 rod goes right through it. I might epoxy it in but that would eliminate me getting my tank out from the hull in the future
(bottom left is screwed up)

Also does anyone know anything about primers? I had one on my old ski, didnt pay attention how it was attached. Theres only one little nipple fitting above the return line on the carb for the primer and there is two fittings on the primer pump, and there was a T used in the circuit. that is all I know.

you tap into a fuel line, attach to the primer, from the primer you go to the carb. The angled primer is your intake and the one in the center is the feed to your barb.

Going back to my basic carb setup... The green circle is showing the T fitting that goes through the primary supply line to the carb. The smaller part of that fitting connects to the angles barb on the primer. The pink circle is how the primer actually shoots fuel into the carb. The line from here connects to the center barb on the primer.

To make matters more difficult, you need to prime the primer before connecting it so just put it in a little cup of fuel and pump it a few times.

I hate going to any hardware store looking for jetski stuff. They always ask what Im buying the stuff for and try and be all technical, Im just like "No it will work"

Anyways. Thought the pole was going on tonight. But I still have a lot of grinding to do. The pole doesnt extend much past normal riding height like it is now. So it might be a bit much for the pole, but Id rather break a pole than rip the front of the ski off. Even with a limiting rope it was a little worrying

Yeah I know what you mean on the hardware store. I've spent massive amounts of time in various stores looking at various things trying to figure out a solution to my problem. More often than not, I just go looking for a solution with no clue what I'm looking for. So I always tell the people that "I'm just looking" and they leave me alone. I can't explain it to them anyway.

My pole is pretty crooked when mounted probably due to uneven bondo hair underneath. its enough to notice it when looking at it. Im not sure ill notice it while riding anyways ill probably have to get used to it just like everything else on the ski.

What are you guys doing for grips? Dirt bike grips have one larger than the other (for throttle tube) do you just buy two sets?

I have odi grips and I think that's the majority of th people here

yup, they were junkers I used for painting the head, new ones were installed. I started her today, started on the first try (well it took a little to get the gas flowing) So im really happy about that. This thing is LOUD, I really hope it quiets down in the water with the water fitting on the waterbox. Also no leaks or anything. Got to get all the controls mounted and everything turfed and Im ready. Got a temp registration until mine comes in the mail, numbers. Im set.

lt will quite down in the water.Do you have a day to commit to yet on your first run?

Saturday for SURE, tomorrow (friday) MAYBE. Im hopping late tomorrow as it will be lest crowded to get a feel for it. If I get up early around 9 and turf all day I can get it out before dark (if the turf is safe to even consider riding so soon?). Idk saturdays are CRAZY here, so many stupid people. All thats left is turfing. Im super stocked, but my back is going to be hurting I know that for sure, I hopped on just to see what it was like in the garage, and everything is crazy forward compared to my SN. I think id be fine with if everything was higher up, but WOW, just wow.
My start stop switch is 100% going to give this summer, I started it today unplugged it (wasnt on pole yet) and plugged it back in to show my neighbor and it didnt even click or try to start. I hit (literally) the switch a couple times and it worked.

Anyways heres what I got so far. Sorry for the bad pic (phone pic)

You probably already said it,but what kind of handlepole did you use?

l was going to make a suggestion for some detail on your paint.Go down to advance auto and buy some white or even dark blue pinstripe, take it and go over the line where the two colors meet up.This will really dress it up.The other thing it will do is make any areas that where the color meets and is a little uneven and blurred look a 100% better.lt will really clean up those lines.

-1 AC pole with -2.5 or -3.0 steering (idk its a hackjob) more than likely I will be back to a stock steering setup. You think the pinstripes would hold up?

yeah it will hold i used some to stripe some flames i painted on the nose of an old 650 i used to have back in the day and none of it peeled off..i also used it on my x2 to outline some scallops i painted on it and it worked just fine

turfing sucks, thats all I have to say for now. I could get a ride in tonight around 8 before it gets dark but its not worth it. Ill head out early in the morning, no video promises guys sorry. I usually ride alone.

Super glue the edges of the turf before you make the first ride... You'll be glad you did.
