Im deff with everyone on the fact you should try and ride as many hulls as possible to figure out what you like and go with that, but it wont do much good if these a/m hulls all had this issue,in my opinion they all do not. Ive tried many diff hulls,I can tell in a VERY short time if a a/m hull is going to ride well or not... Ive rode hulls that I felt were immediately better than a sj, these type hulls, make riding easier and more stable with less rider input, turn quicker, feel more precise in their movements, they are lighter and take less effort to do the same tricks, have a forgiving nature landing aerials, tend to absorb shock through the water.basically they are less energy consuming to ride and make you a better rider as soon as you hit the throttle
Ive also rode hulls that were extremely hard to ride, wear you out in 5 min fighting every movement, struggling to keep the nose down,or rail a turn, pearl in a sec if your weight isnt perfect in the tray.ride so wet ya cant see where your going 90% the time. very unstable and porpus at even moderate speed, beat ya silly landing even the smallest of airs no matter what part of the hull hits first. Tons of other riding issues,to many to list.Getting a hull to do one thing well is not that hard, getting it to do everything well including a backflip is a whole diff story.but imho any hull or setup including length of the pole, rideplate,or intake grate that you have to get use to or learn to deal with is really never going to get better, your just compromising and accepting it....
The only other large issue in choosing is how well made a hull is and rather or not your 6k or more is going to fall apart while you "learn"to ride it.the fit and finish, how many parts fit with no grinding and headaches.how many hours you will work prepping painting and turfing..time is money to most of us.also how much room it has for the size gas tank you want to run for your ride area and purpose. You will find more "fans" of a certain hull are usually closer to the manufacture for a few reasons, either support, buddies or sponsorship among others... good luck in your hunt!!
