carbon superfreak vs gen 3 bob carbon

Hey guys im looking at pulling the trigger on a new hull,, putting it together over a yr or 2. I have a stock 08 superjet, but I dont want to mod it as its not going to get me where I want. At the same time i dont really want to sell it! So my dilemma becomes which hull do i buy ???? I live in canada and theres not any opportunity to try an AM hull, I m looking to put a fair size DASA in it ,, Basically looking for a survey of all you guys with experience,, what would you buy?????

Thanks

Steveuk has the wdk Rok in Barrie and jr. Freestyle has a superfreak in st.cstherines but not sure if he has taken posesdion of it yet. Might be worth it to shoot him abpm to get his thoughts on everything.

I own a g3 and my best bud owns a freak. I'm 240 lbs and can barely ride a g3. Can ride the crap outta the freak tho. I either need to lose weight or get a freak.

just last winter I bought my new freestyle ski, didn't know anything about them and hadn't really ridden any before. At first I was in aw of the big money boats that look sweet but my buddy had a bob gen 2 and it was cheaper than the rest so I ended up choosing that. I absolutely love my ski, I think part of it was the fact I was so new to it, if you've never really ridden a shortened hull that much then I don't think its as important what kind you get because you will be learning as you go and you will learn to ride the ski you buy, that was my logic when buying anyways. The bob was cheaper and I couldn't love it more.

You just gotta spend more time on one. A BOB is a totally different ride, it wasn't modded from anything, so it doesnt ride like anything else. Like I tell everyone, you wont like your BOB at first, but once you start spending more time on it, you'll learn how to ride it, and you'll grow to love it. One of our guys at our shop is pushing 220, and he's been flipping 701 BOBs, because he's had enough water time on them.

As someone else said, as much as they cost you need to spend a little more and travel a bit to try as many hulls as possible out before buying.
I haven't tried a G3, but I have ridden both a G1 and G2 (and a Q8, Rickter, and WDK REV, plus I own a Superfreak)
I can tell you the Superfreak and G1/G2 ride nothing at all like each other. What you would like better is personal preference, but you should try it out.

So if thats the case, and the logical thing to do is to get a feel for these hulls ,, how does one "try one"????? Hey bud can I try out your $20,000 ski????????

Concur! Those two ski's are on opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of handling. Don't rely solely on keyboard jockey's to tell you how to spend $5k-$8k and for the love of God please don't buy one because of what you saw some guy do in a 30 second video on youtube.

If you can ride up on a stand up, can jump waves, and generally don't look like someone who just bought a ski, the answer will almost certainly be "yes go ahead".

Exactly right. I will give my ski to just about any rider to try out. And my buddies with other custom skis do the same.

You'd be really surprised how many people will just tell you to take it for a spin right after meeting you.

Even if you have to spend some $ on travel to try out a couple hulls, how much are you going to loose if you hate your choice and then sell and re-buy something else?

I definately need more time on it. I just need to lose some weight in the process. I chose the g3 because ultimately I only care about doing flat water flips. I live really close to the perfect flatwater spot and already have a good boat chaser. The xfs rode the same for me. I think the reality is that a 244 pound guy is going to struggle on such a short boat. The flipside to that is Ill probobly need a 1200 and a 148 to flip a freak. I can't afford that. So luckily I am a fat sob and have a ton of weight to lose.

Why?
My own SF flips off its own setup wake without trim with a 970 motor.

Sure, a bigger motor will make it to where you don't need ANY skills at all to make it happen (not quite). I'd say if you can't flip a short freestyle hull with an 850+ motor, you're doing something wrong.
