Different Kind of Build

This project has been in the making for a few years now. But due to some changes in lifestyle several months ago, this project has now come to fruition.
My son and l have wanted a garage to do our work and be able to leave a project. It will have all the comforts of home. TV, and beer. What do guys need!

Every guy needs a Geerage.

I put up a cardboard ceiling and found some old carpet and padding for my rental garage. I sealed up all the holes and run an electric milk heater non stop. At 30 degree outside temps it's staying at 50+ inside now for almost a month. Here comes the 20 degree nights....I have a propane heater to really get it warmed up in the winter. Makes it so cozy.

Adding a TV and some classic DVDs playing non stop(Trailer Park Boys/Man Show/ Red Green Show), really adds comfort to the garage.

Garage Journal forum for any of your build questions. The new space will be GREAT!
Don't let the guys pour concrete and pull the wire up with rakes.....it just settle back to the bottom. The reinforcement needs to remain in the middle of the slab which is why they make "chairs". Rocks or chunks of old brick will also do fine, even stiff wire bent and shoved into the ground........ANYTHING to keep it in the middle of the concrete where it belongs.

Awesome build! I finally got mine up this spring and have been loving it. 30x50x12, holds my boat Jeep project plus my lift and room for extra vehicles. Still working on the wiring, building a loft in there this winter for storage and a dedicated reload/ storage area. Garage journal is an awesome resource and those guys can spend your money in ways I didnt know existed. Look forward to seeing more pics of it.

Got the footers and concrete poured, on a cold and windy Wednesday. Felt sorry for the workers, but their choice. They never left until 8 that night. Laid thermal blankets on the pad and came back the next day to make the soft cuts. Fifteen squares, more than l expected but excellent. But, of course. all concrete cracks. l’ll be applying sealer to it Mon l hope. Something Ducky recommended, Surecrete. Let’s the moisture bleed out but won’t allow any in.

Builder and l talked yesterday. Trusses won’t make it till around the 15th and the windows about the same time.Hopefully we will have good weather that following week.

What shop kit is this?

Its a 30x 50x 12 from a company called eversafe buildings. I cant say they were great to work with but with these metal buildings around here at least it seems they are all fabbed in North Carolina and just sold under different company names. I see no difference in mine and the same size building a guy I know had put up by a different company.

Buildings coming along fairly well. The framing up usually goes quickly. They will take a christmas break and hopefully be back tuesday.

If you want the extra Sano floor look, I would look into filling the saw cut joints with something like Euco (Euclid Chemical) QwikJoint UVR. I use it on just about all of my "grind and seal" and polish concrete jobs. It's not cheap, but its good, good stuff. I can walk you through the process on that, its not hard.

l went by yesterday around 130 and find the guys were working! They lack 20’ of footage for the trusses to finish. Also l will have some great storage space up top. The center of the trusses is 10’ wide and 50’ long. So-2 4’ x 8’ beside each other will make a large area.

Progress. OSB, wrap, metal roofing on. Windows in. Still lack sliding patio door, and entry door. Pricing out garage doors at this time.
