The bond rails are a bit wider. I'll measure it up before I buy it, if I can even find one. There's a guy selling a 4x6 locally and he is claiming they don't make them anymore.

I have had the idea in my head for all of about 5 minutes now so nope, haven't really gone anywhere with it yet other than track down a couple pics. It's a tiny sliver of what all I have going on right now and is of no real priority either. I just know that I'm not going to be happy if I'm tripping over skis in my garage every time I turn around.

There was another trailer I spotted on the side of the road a few months back that is even better but I have not been able to track it down yet. I'm still kicking myself for not turning around and getting a pic or at least a name off it. It was in the same 5x8 category but had a sloped front that looked very aerodynamic. I spent a few hours online looking and have gone thru most of the common manufacturers but it's seeming like a needle in a haystack.

My wife tracked down one of the little haulmark trailers but they want $5500 for it. I'll find out more details tomorrow but I'm pretty sure that's gonna be a deal breaker. I could box in my current triton trailer much cheaper than that.

Not sure what my wife was looking at last night but here's one for $4000 down in Florida.

The inside dimensions are 4'10" which leaves about an inch on each side and in between the Matrix and the Superjet. The door opening however is only 54" which could be an issue. If you slid one ski in all the way forward, it may leave enough of a gap to slide the second one in and past the first without making contact. If you put the skis in backwards, the taper in the front would make things even easier and would also solve another issue with not having a bow eye on the Matrix. I could mount Stolz bow stops on the trailer bulkhead and secure the rear with pins instead of the fronts.

1. That looks like something you'd use to move your small herd of cattle (one by one of course)

2. I'm glad he added a few pics of him holding a trout in the craigslist ad, that makes me want this trailer so much more.

Edit: Wait... isoldout, did I just make fun of your trailer and your trout??

Lol no, saw it when browsing. I figured it was ocds style. ;)

I am looking at getting an enclosed trailer soon. I am wanting either a 5x10, 6x10, or 6x12 single axle. Can anyone report on fuel economy differences. I pulled a 6x12 about 7 hours to the coast last year and only got about 12-13mpg in my sierra. Im trying to decide if getting a 5x10 would be a better option for fuel economy or if the results would not be much different between the sizes.

I believe the loss in mileage is mostly due to wind drag so any reduction in the surface area should have an effect. How much, I have no clue.

I keep seeing these short trailers that are roughly the same height as the cab of the tow vehicle and wonder how much better they are than a full walk in height trailer.?.?.?

most of the drag is at the rear of the trailer. if you want less drag you need a tear drop or boat tail.

So you don't think lowering the height of the trailer to level or below the cab of the tow vehicle has that much effect on mileage?

Got a new race trailer so the old one is for sale. Turn key setup to haul two skis and everything else you need to keep them running. hubs repacked and tires were new this time last year. I am keeping the spare tire and of course non of the gear goes with it. located in Kansas City.

the pics with the skis in it are older. has helmet rack strap holder cointop floor and some other stuff in it now. asking $2100obo
