I have ridden several Team Scream motors over the last 8-9 years... There is no better people to deal w/ and their product knowledge is unsurpassed in this sport. Team Scream rules it!!!!

Even though this is really just a pot stirring, thread I'll tell you what I think anyway. My suggestion is to ride different boats and see who builds what you like. After that, talk to the builder you're considering and get a feel for them. In my opinion, the relationship with the builder is almost as important as the quality of the work. I would settle for slightly less power(thankfully I don't have too)in exchange for the relationship I have with my builders. I trust them completely and wouldn't trade my situation for anything. I've been dealing with them for many years now and plan to for years to come.

that is great...

I love my team scream 828.. and soon getting the new Xscream Cyl.

If you try different skis... make sure what your looking for and what people have in there ski is comparable..

Take a 701 ported, b pipe and take a 701 ported bpipe and add TL and TBM FLY..

night and day...

Or when people compare a stock cyl 5 mil and a lamey 7 port 5 mil.

there might be a difference there too..

Just compared motors and do your homework...

I have buddies with 701-710cc xscreams that hit harder than mosts bigbores.

And I personally ride them all the time.. just to show the ski how to flip.. hehehhehe

my 2 cents.

I've run a couple of lpw setups, Riva and am just in the process of putting in a TEAM SCREAM. I'll let u know how the screamer works out. One of the biggest surprises for me was the Riva, man that thing rocked. You need to ask yourself a couple of questions. Purpose, longevity, and cost. Tech support, Paul at LPW always answers the phone, and Radney has always been more than helpful at Team Scream.
Are u prepared for the additional work that comes with a specialty motor.

lets not forget some of these motors are just dropped in their new homes and are not completely setup properly- what I mean is they run like they are supposed to but the rest of the ski is not setup for that motor. props, intake grate, making sure the pump is sealed up, etc. I rode a bone stock ski with a protec pipe and a hooker prop that felt incredible on the bottom. I have also ridden skis with much more that were sorta soft in comparison. so when you think "package" you need to expand your thinking to the whole ski not just motor.

by the way- Team Scream has and does it all.

Charging the battery every few rides and mixing Avgas with pump gas doesn't seem too daunting to me...

I ride mine in the surf a lot, and treat it the same way as I did with my limited engines.....no hassles here.

I was thinking more about power valves, and the newer Dry pipes that freestylers are leaning towards. Motors are more than bolt on and go.

So you are that happy with Mark Ericson? LMAO

to the OP:

what do you mean when you say "big motor???"

what yoiu want will dictate whom you go to...

depends on if you want a port job, BB, stroker, stroker + BB or full aftermarket cylinder..

I doubt it'll get any better than the motor you see in my avatar..More power than you need and tons of potential left considering its running a single on stock electrics....

add TL, duals and a dry pipe all off of a sudden its a WHOLE different motor..

so, what are YOU looking for???

I will chime in now i guess and say look at what you want to do and your budget. I have had and LPW 701 and liked it allot. I then went to a LPW big bore and hated it. I then went to a team scream 701 and It hits harder then any of my other motors I have had. I feel no need to go any larger motor wise and am sold on chuck work. A bunch of you have ridden my boat and will agree.

Good luck in your search.

I am wanting have a bigger motor built but not sure who to use.
LPW
Team Scream
JetWorks
Thrust Innovations

I have ridden a couple LPW motors and really liked em.

i wish i could give more info but i didn't get to many offers to ride other peoples skis with sick motors at the x2 ride at navarre:Thinkingof_: if i was you i would call rob at cp watercraft and see what he can do for you. rob is a pro freestyle rider so he will know just how to set your boat up for competitions. since he is your sponsor i bet he would give you a hell of a motor at a great price

EDIT: this is my personal opinion/perceptions, your mileage may vary. Please don't PM me, it's just my opinion.

Of the 4 options listed, this is my personal take in terms of if I were building something today:

LPW - not sure how involved he is nowadays, and don't really see any 'new' development going on, so might be a little 'dated'

Team Scream - excellent, yet expensive, has great bling factor

JetWorks - solid running engines, maybe not as tweaked but to me that's a good thing for longevity

Thrust Innovations - I am under the impression he doesn't do actual porting, but more assembles engines---I'm probably wrong, but I do believe his packages are excellent performers

I think my approach is going to be just keep the engine stock, and add more engines as required: 1 engine for general riding, 2 for barrel rolls/surf, 3 for flatwater backflips/racing

I see a few names listed saying "Let this guy do the work". Some are new, some do more composite type work, or sell hard parts. But where is their actually experience? Who trained them? That is something to ask and think about.
