Boris it has a major effect on the power band of your engine. Up to a certain point the sooner the advance comes in the sooner/ harder the power band hits.
When you can combine the advanced timing with correct jetting for the curve then the gain is increased even more.

Do you richen the mixture up down low for the more advance curve. Because of the higher advance it will require more fuel down low

No, I am dialed in for the higher advance curve, I detune it slightly for surf.

I just don't get the whole curve bit.
Not bagging it, just don't see when I would need one as opposed to the other.

I go between flatwater and surf so I like the option of switching between curves. Why build up a custom motor and then run a curve made to suit a wide variety of engines when you can dial in a curve to suit your mods and be changeable as your needs change.

I get all that. Just don't see when I would need 2 curves.
I do setup my ski differently for when the water and air hit summer temps so maybe a different curve could come in handy.

Again, I get the benefits of a programmable CDI (I'm getting one for my new build) but the curve A and B thing seams a bit overkill for me.

X2. Exactly why the Epic is designed.

I'm sure that most Epic owners feel the same way and never program up the second curve either but it sure is good to have options.

Another situation where two curves are good is to answer the much asked question, "Can you really feel the difference between curves?", load up two curves and switch back and forth on the water for true back to back testing. It's a tuners thing.

That's a good point.
Switch back and forth to see the difference.

Guess I'll see when my ski comes together. Might have one regular curve and one for the long WOT runs through the mangrove trails mid summer.

I forgot!
The curve I am using is pump gas safe. You will have no issues with it at all. Try it you may get a suprise
wax, in the past when i was setting up a tl curve for my motor i took your advise and came up with a curve alot like yours for my motor. i also took chris's advice about hold max timing up into 5000-5500 rpms as it is approx the rpm you would be at when charging your setup wake. this curve did not give me a powerband, the motor pulls hard at all rpms right off idle, it doesn't kick in harder at a certain rpm, it has the lightswitch effect for a good 3 seconds. it was a 735cc motor so the motors hit was over quick but it packed a serious punch. thank you. i have been running this curve for a while now and love the attitude of my motor.

Your welcome d-roc, happy to have helped. I guess you could run the advance for a bit longer its stems from my racing days.
holding it to 4750 on the dry pipes used to eat at the o-rings so I pulled it out a bit earlier to stop this issue. On a b-pipe holding it on a bit longer would be fine as it doesnt have quite the same scavenging as drypipe has.

i hold 32 untill 5500 and drop it way down way fast to hit 17 at 7200 rpm. this does make the power flatten out on the very top end but that is fine for me. that was 190psi on 94 octane and rich carbs.

Big Freek'n Queston here: (me thinks) and I see this possible issue on most curves.

on this curve what is the timimg at:
4600rpm
5000rpm
5500rpm
5900rpm

Does the timing follow the graph created by the editor or does MPU step from point to point.

ex.
4600rpm = 21 degrees
or
5900rpm = 32 degrees

The ignitions I used to do http://www.hpi.be/applist.htm did and I would assume these ignitions do the same
I used to use the power jet circuit to turn on the water injection until I figured out what you could do with a decent curve on the right carb jets

The answer to your question is no, this would be pretty crude, between 4600 and 5900 it would do straight line interpolation. In other words, what you see is what you get, it follows the graph on the screen.
