Hey Wax you seem to have the idea I have as far as the timing curve. I was wondering if you did any tunning with a power factor pipe? I have a in the middle motor where I think I could step up and make the power factor work for my setup but would have to throw some serious timing at it to get on the pipe quick and not loose all my low end power.

9010 a few boys in aus have been telling me they are making more power with b pipes on 10 mill motors then the power factor pipe depends who u talk to Ive got mates foing flat water shows with b pipes lee stone was running a b pipe here I was told it made more power

I havent used a power factor pipe so I dont have a curve for them.
But I was told they are similar to the type 9 and I do have a curve for them. I have also heard from lee stone they were making more power with the b-pipe.

Yes I have herd that its similar tuning to the type 9 and I have seem your other threads where you were talking about tuning a type 9. Thanks for all the great info wax

What are you guys setting your rev limit at and what is stock on a 701 cdi?

The OEM CDI is about 7250rpm. It would depend on your engine and the application but for example most freestyle/freeriders with a 701 or 760 based engine with a B pipe would set the rev limit at about 8000 rpm.

Xmetal told me they didn't have a curve for half av gas/half premium pump gas domes for their 771. They said to use the preprogrammed ATP curve for up to 785cc.

I'm thinking I will use the same curve I run on my total loss. It's something like 32 max until 5500 with max retard at 9000. I need to look at my notes at home.

Can anyone think of a reason to run the Epic ignition curve different from a total loss curve? The only differences I see are lighter flywheel and stronger spark. I am running a lightened flywheel but it is still way heavier than a total loss flywheel.

No problem with that except you need to be careful what the numbers are at the rpm you will be turning. If you send me an Email I will send something over to you.

I bastardized a couple of other peeps curves (wax/ocd/QJS). I'm gonna try them all at one point or another.

Is it possible for one engine builders curve to harm another engine builders motor, For example Ive got a xmetal 771 and my friend has another builders curve same size motor but his is much more aggressive then mine?

D-Roc

I forgot!
compression may be a factor. one builder may run 170psi with a 32 static curve and another builder may run 195psi with a 29 static curve. 94 octane vs 91 octane etc etc etc.

not likely unless you run crazy low octane fuel, radically different oil ratio or go pinning the throttle wide azz open for long runs. I'd keep max timing advance less than 32/33 (or 34 on the ragged edge) and your rev limit less than 8k and you'll be safe. That said, typically a builder will have the curve worked out to maximize whatever engine he set it up for.

Do you guys lose connection to the CDI when using the Flame software and the "B" curve is selected on the switch?

Kinda the first time I actually compared the two, And I'm actually surprised that the Xmetal Curve is less aggressive, Kinda Shocked actually, Which curve should I run? lol
Ive seen Arts Curve and Xmetal is significantly less aggressive as well
